Summary
The Director of Plant Operations / Chief Engineer is responsible for special professional engineering matters at the hospital. This position will work with the medical activities to identify additional space needs and needed renovations to existing spaces.
Responsibilities
* Identified needs will be individually transformed to engineering requirements estimated, accomplished locally, or included as part of a comprehensive plan for hospital system funding. * The medical space and physical plant needs must be considered individually, assigned relative weight, prioritized, and submitted as a coordinated five-year plan. * This position supervises all construction and inspects completed work for professional adequacy. * Work must comply with Federal, State and accreditation agency requirements or, in their absence, good engineering practice. * As Director of Plant Operations plans, develops, and oversees administration of the hospital's plant facilities, security system, grounds and equipment. * The Director is responsible for establishing and maintaining positive relationships with all employees and customers of the facility. * The Director will also investigate and identify potential savings initiatives that will maximize financial outcomes for the hospital. * Responsible for the departments implementation of the hospitals Emergency Management Plan. * Responsible for implementing Patient Safety Initiatives. * The Director serves as the hospitals Safety Officer.
Ideal Candidate
**Education:** * Degree in engineering (civil, mechanical, electrical, environmental) required with training in business management preferred. **Licensure:** * Current drivers license. **Experience:** * Five years experience in supervision and maintenance installation, construction and maintenance equipment, utilities and buildings. In depth knowledge of blueprints and building codes necessary.
