Industrial Engineer

The Plant Engineer ensures that the physical plant, machinery, and equipment are designed, constructed, and continuously maintained in a sound and safe operating condition, complying with all regulatory requirements, in support of the manufacturing requirements and the business goals and strategies of the Hain Celestial Group. Tasks are to be completed while maintaining the highest safety, product safety, quality, cost and GMP standards in a high speed manufacturing environment.

* Oversees maintenance of property, including but not limited to offices, machinery and equipment, and warehouses through development and implementation of preventative maintenance program. * Oversees maintenance of plant utility systems and components for electricity, water, steam, gas, compressed air, plant coolers, air conditioning, heating, and ventilation. * Responds in timely manner/deploys and assists maintenance crew as needed to deal with machinery breakdowns and minimize downtime; determines need for outside/technical assistance and coordinates efforts. * Sets daily/weekly agenda for activities of the maintenance crew. * Manages inventory of parts, materials, and equipment necessary to maintain the facility/production lines; determines appropriate items for “spare parts” inventory. * Interfaces with operation’s management team to develop budgets for capital expenditures and maintenance of existing equipment and facilities. * Provides specifications and issues Purchase Orders for equipment, parts, and supplies relating to plant maintenance operations. * Furnishes engineering, designs, specifications, bills of material, and cost estimates for construction and major rehabilitation of property, and for projects involving installation and relocation of equipment * Maintains property records, surveys, equipment history records, manuals, warranties, and maintenance/engineering resource materials. * Maintains current drawings, schematics, and files for plant/facility structures, systems, and equipment * Maintains a master plan for future improvements/expansion of the plant. * Prepares accurate and timely reports, statistics, drawings, and recommendations as required. * Interfaces with staff managers, outside contractors, and engineers related to facility upkeep, renovations, or construction. * Interfaces with federal and state plant inspectors, boiler inspectors, and local code enforcement officers. * Understands ISO 9001certification principles and policies and insures compliance with ISO 9001Standard Operating Procedures as related to plant maintenance program and activities. * Be an alternate for the crisis management team and be responsible for Product Safety and Quality * Follow all Product Safety guidelines, such as, but not limited to: * GMP’s * Quality * HACCP * Sanitation * Safety * Other duties as assigned

* Minimum ten years’ experience in a Plant Engineering role or related capacity * Associate Degree or higher in one or more relevant Engineering field(s), or equivalent knowledge with emphasis on mechanical, electrical, industrial and civil engineering disciplines. * Thorough knowledge of federal safety regulations and electrical codes. * Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, government regulations, and general business periodicals. * Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, geometry, and trigonometry. * Ability to generate mechanical drawings and apply graphical development techniques. * Strong organizational, problem solving, and analytical skills; ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. * Ability to interpret mechanical and electrical schematic diagrams; interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form. * Familiar with basic computer concepts and operations; proficient on Microsoft Office Suites, CAD/drafting software, and Maintenance software. * Ability to manage priorities and work flow, handle multiple projects and meet deadlines. * Ability to understand all safety requirements and cautions. * Ability to perform any necessary physical labor. * Ability to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace. * Strong interpersonal skills; ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at various organizational levels. * Expert in wide variety of manufacturing machinery/equipment systems, including: PLC controllers, variable frequency drives, DC controllers, servos, instrumentation, sensors, photo electrics, form/fill/seal machines, cartoning machines, milling equipment, code dating equipment, screening/classifying/separation equipment, volumetric filling, statistical scale filling, motorized conveyors, labeling machines, box closers, hot melt systems, pumps and controllers, label applicators, metal detectors, all types of power transmission components, and all types of motors and electrical control devices. * Expert in wide variety of facility support systems, including: plumbing, electrical, steam generation, compressors, and plant air system design. * Expert in use of testing and measuring instruments for both electrical and mechanical applications, all types of welding and cutting equipment, shop machinery and power tools, drafting tools, CAD software. * Ability to “troubleshoot” malfunctioning electrical and mechanical systems and provide accurate diagnostic evaluations. * Familiarity with lubrication theory, lubricants, and proper application of such. * Ability to operate man lifts and fork trucks safely and efficiently. * Understanding of basic principles of the ISO9001 program and other product safety policies/procedures
