About CME Group
CME Group is the world's leading and most diverse derivatives marketplace, handling 3 billion contracts worth approximately $1 quadrillion annually (on average). The company provides a marketplace for buyers and sellers, bringing together individuals, companies and institutions that need to manage risk or that want to profit by accepting risk.
Summary
CME Group is looking for a Senior Front-end Developer with 5+ years of experience to create compelling, usable, beautiful web-based UIs. Not a copy/paste hacker, but a serious software engineer who can build a web application from scratch as readily as building onto an existing application. Candidate will need excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously. Candidate must be independent, self-motivating, and willing to work in a fast paced environment with experience in front-end technologies and back-end development. As a member of the development team, this individual is responsible for designing and coding UI functionality necessary to support the complexities of our trading engine along with enhancing the productivity and experience of the end users.
Responsibilities
* BS or MS Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent. * High level of skill with JavaScript, CSS, and understanding of JavaScript frameworks such as Backbone and React. Can read and write HTML/JS/CSS by hand, and be immersed enough in these technologies to have informed opinions about various frameworks and philosophies on how to organize and structure client-side code. * Competence in interface design, graphic design, and experience design. Candidate can quickly construct prototypes from a provided graphic design (or better yet, without provided graphics) and can follow existing UI designs to expand into new areas. * Solid understanding of web server-side architecture and design patterns. * Flexibility to learn new technologies.
Ideal Candidate
* Experience with Node.js as a build tool and on the server. * Experience with automated front-end testing and test driven development. * Able to communicate all aspects of UI/UX development to both technical and non-technical team members. * Ability to mentor and train other front-end engineers to become strong contributors to the overall architecture of the system. * Experience with Agile development and associated tools like Jira or RTC.
