Software Engineer

As a Front End Engineer at Button, you’ll sit at the intersection of Design, Product, and Engineering as we build a beautiful and intuitive interface to a powerful developer ecosystem.

You’ll combine your expert knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript with your eye for stunning designs to produce unrivaled user experiences.

You Will

• Work closely with the Design and Product teams to translate sophisticated technical workflows into delightful user experiences
• Define how Button builds user interfaces and ensure that we’re utilizing and keeping up with modern web standards
• Continually test and iterate on the results of your work in the spirit of continuous improvement
• Write clean, reusable, and well-tested frontend code
• Help to bridge the responsibilities of the Design and Engineering teams, spending time with both on the way to launching new products

How do we work together?

• We build many of our application servers in JavaScript / NodeJS.
• We code review everything that gets checked in.
• We use tools like Sketch, Flinto, and (of course) an old-fashioned whiteboard to flesh out designs before we commit to them.

You Have

• A strong understanding of UX and UI design standards
• A perfectionist’s touch on a pragmatist’s deadline: you strive for pixel-perfection and intuitive functionality
• Experience building, evolving, and debugging JavaScript applications, using frameworks like React, Angular, or Ember
• The ability to bring any design to life with HTML and CSS
• Experience using tools like Sketch or Photoshop to tweak and export assets from our Design team
• Experience constructing data visualizations using libraries like D3 (optional)
