Responsibilities
BioMed Realty has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Real Estate Counsel to support the company’s growing east coast portfolio. The successful candidate will provide a broad range of support including drafting, reviewing & negotiating leases; reviewing various real estate agreements such as purchase, construction and design, joint venture documents, tax credit and debt financing documents. Responsibilities - Other responsibilities include supporting due diligence for property acquisitions by reviewing tenant leases, environmental reports, service agreements, and title and survey reports; - Drafting and negotiating agreements such as letters of intent, leases, lease amendments, purchase and sale agreements, joint venture agreements, construction and design contracts, and debt financing documents; - Reviewing and negotiating service agreements, consultants' agreements, rights of entry, purchase orders and confidentiality agreements; - Drafting and reviewing lease abstracts; monitoring compliance with REIT tax requirements.
Ideal Candidate
- J.D., plus active Bar Association Membership in Massachusetts; - Five to ten years' real estate transactional legal experience working autonomously on a broad spectrum of real estate transactions; - Proficiency in Microsoft Office software: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; and SharePoint; - Ability to write business correspondence, make presentations and lead trainings; - Strong verbal and written communication, presentation, organizational and creative problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex transactions and juggle multiple priorities; - Excellent people skills and the ability to build and maintain positive, supportive working relationships and an approachable, friendly demeanor; - Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with multiple deadlines, and to adapt readily to changing priorities; - Ability to take direction from and work effectively with senior executives and staff members; - Experience with real estate investment trusts preferred.
