Summary
The Senior Accountant, Corporate Accounting will be responsible for a combination of financial reporting, technical research, and operational accounting.
Responsibilities
* Ensure appropriate accounting treatment and maintenance of documentation for all derivative transactions, primarily through coordination with outsourced provider * Appropriately account for all debt related activities and document unique transactions * Prepare and/or review multiple sets of audited and unaudited financial statements for issuance * Provide support and assistance to external auditors for annual audits * Prepare quarterly lender results package * Review lease documents and prepare accounting schedules for any new or amended leases * Be a key resource in transitioning to the new lease accounting standard * Assist with technical accounting research and preparation of memos to support accounting positions * Establish strong working relationships with the Company’s treasury and consolidations teams as well as the external auditors * Provide multiple alternatives for success to operational decision makers when asked for assistance * Be a team member on monthly close activities and ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met * Complete and/or review journal entries and account reconciliations as necessary * Enhance the documentation of key internal controls, processes, and procedures * Identify best practices and create ideas for process improvements or automation
Ideal Candidate
**Qualifications:** * Proven track record of academic and professional excellence * Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (MBA or advanced degree is a plus) * 2 to 5 years of related professional experience * CPA or CPA candidate preferred * Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel * Strong technical accounting and financial reporting skills **Other Characteristics:** * Exceptional problem solving skills, attention to detail, organized, and results oriented * A self-directed individual with a strong ability to manage ambiguity and who adapts readily and easily to changes in priorities and business conditions * Strong interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills * Comfortable working with very sensitive data and able to maintain a high degree of discretion * Professional demeanor and personal integrity beyond reproach * Ability to meet the demands of a rapidly growing, fast paced, complex and entrepreneurial environment * Strong relationship building skills and ability to develop trust between the accounting group and the operational and other finance areas of the Company * Ability to hold people accountable without hurting relationships
