Summary
Directs the academic design, delivery and assists in the accreditation of academic programs for a portfolio of social work programs and courses within the College of Social Sciences at the University. This position dedicates at least half time to teaching and scholarly pursuits.
Responsibilities
* Leads the development of a defined portfolio of courses or sequences of courses, academic courses, and certificates * Leads the development of a defined portfolio of academic programs and their policies, procedures, and standards in accordance with University academic standards and applicable regulatory bodies relating to specific programs within the College. * Works with subject matter experts and instructional designers to design, revise, and evaluate specific courses or sequence of courses on a continual basis. * Works with subject matter experts and instructional designers to design, revise, and evaluate specific degree and certificate programs on a continual basis. This includes working closely with curriculum, learning assessment, accreditation and academic operations personnel to monitor and revise program curriculum as necessary. Manages a budget for external resources and materials to execute on program delivery. Ensures documentation necessary for program approvals and accreditation reports. * Participates in the design and evaluation of the specific program’s missions and related strategic plans on a continual basis. Defines effective, objective, and measurable goals to support the department’s mission, vision and strategic plans. * Represents the organization as appropriate in its relationship with the education, business, and government communities. These relationships are essential to seek out programmatic feedback for continuous improvement. Also accountable for developing and maintaining a positive relationship within the organization, especially with programmatic accrediting bodies, industry strategy groups and employer relationship partners. * Develops, in consultation with the academic dean, faculty standards for the selection and performance management of faculty. Partners with faculty shared services organizations to ensure faculty standards are understood and maintained. * Monitors academic and program delivery standards through the assessment of necessary academic requirements and provides guidance, information, resources, and support to operational staff as appropriate. * Monitors student learning outcomes for courses and programs within portfolio and analyzes outcomes data for use in continuous program improvement. Identifies and implements strategies for program maintenance and revision based on data. * Monitors retention performance and enrollment trends in courses and programs in order to address performance issues. Recommends and acts on necessary changes to improve total enrollment and retention metrics. * Understands and monitors the impact of industry standards and accreditation needs on course and program design, development, assessment and revision. Provides evidence as required for new and ongoing accreditation efforts. * Develops, in consultation with the Academic Dean and Dean of Faculty, faculty standards for the selection and performance management of faculty. Partners with faculty shared services organizations to ensure faculty standards are understood and maintained. * Manages any student or faculty escalations of an academic nature happening with the program portfolio in consultation with the academic dean. * Provides appropriate product knowledge, education, and training to help staff achieve competency and promote excellence. May also supervise and monitor the professional competence component of students and faculty. * Maintains a professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies. * Engages in scholarship activities by attending workshops and presenting and/or publishing research annually. * Performs other duties as assigned or apparent.
Ideal Candidate
**Basic Requirements:** * Doctorate in a social science field such as social work, human services, social services, or counseling required. * Master’s degree in Social Work from a CSWE-accredited institution required. * Active social work license (LCSW, LMSW, LBSW) required. * Minimum of two years of higher education teaching experience LCSW required. * Minimum of two years of experience with Social Work program development and/or administration. **Additional Requirements:** * Higher education experience in program design, curriculum design, and/or assessment of student learning preferred. * Active counseling license (LMFT, CPC, LPC, etc.) preferred. * Experience with oversight of instructional design, educational technology, higher education academic programing, faculty, and/or student issues in higher education preferred. * Higher education administration experience preferred. * Proven experience in social work instructional design, academic program development, teaching, and/or administration at a regionally accredited college or university. * Demonstrated basic knowledge in the areas of academic development and evaluation, adult education principles and practices, and instructional design. * Ability to demonstrate a high level of conceptual and strategic thinking to participate in the development of academic program policies, procedures, and standards, as well as the College’s or School’s mission, vision, and related strategic plans, as described above. * Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills to communicate and provide guidance and support to operational staff as it relates to the academic quality and operational aspects of designated degree programs. * Working knowledge of personal software packages to prepare correspondence, spreadsheets, presentations, project management, and reports. * Results oriented and ablilty to manage multiple projects and activities on time and within budget.
