Summary
The Project Manager III is responsible for the quality and delivery of the projects as assigned. The role requires regular analytical and metrics-based reporting to other staff, and stakeholders. This position will manage Amtrak’s efforts related to the planning, design and construction of various projects as assigned.
Responsibilities
* Build strong relationships within Amtrak to understand the project challenges and opportunities * Create a collaborative partnership among Amtrak forces, contractors and stakeholders that enables workforce development, change management, and project success * Plan the delivery of the overall project and its activities in accordance with the mission and the goals of the project * Lead and direct Amtrak personnel, consultants and contractors in the execution of the project, schedule and estimate * Develop an annual and project budget and operating plan to support the project * Provide performance analytics on the program for stakeholders * Monitor and approve all budgeted program expenditures * Identify and evaluate the risks associated with program activities and take appropriate action to control the risks * Support the creation of project management best practices, tools, and ways for Amtrak to drive efficiency in order to reduce costs and add value * Coordinate frequent filed meetings to discuss and resolve issues associated with construction, operations, phasing, etc. with relevant Amtrak personnel, contractors and consultants * Be fully qualified on RWP and AMT II, and be able to work in the field environment and well as the office
Ideal Candidate
**Work Experience:** * Strong project and program management skills * Strong focus on collaboration, team building, and customer service * Highly motivated and self-directed * Familiarity with OSHA requirements, FRA and other federal, state, and local regulations and standards, as necessary to ensure project compliance * Able to exercise independent judgment and take action on it * Excellent analytical, mathematical, and creative problem-solving skills * Demonstrated experience in Project Management, and working knowledge of Amtrak Engineering Department associated processes including WebWee, Primavera, SAP * Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks while under pressure * Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, MS Project) * Extensive experience with project and program management, including Earned Value reporting **Other Requirements:** * Demonstrated leadership experience in planning, design, and project management, including demonstrated experience in at least one large, complex infrastructure renewal project * Strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to articulate complex transportation issues and interact with outside stakeholders including the FRA, as well as all levels of Amtrak employees * Knowledge of BMWE labor agreements, MW 1000, NORAC, RWP, AMT II * Have the ability to acquire the PMP certification **Preferred Education:** Graduate Degree in Engineering or Construction Management, PMP, Professional Engineers License **Communication and Interpersonal Skills:** Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
