Summary
As a UX Design Manager for this new and growing project, you will use your UX leadership, design, and research skills to create elegant and intuitive user experiences that meet the evolving business needs for our customers and sellers of subscription products and services. A successful candidate will be able to explore and translate complex interactions into simple and engaging user-centered solutions while being able to communicate those solutions verbally as well as through sketches, user flows, wireframes, hi-fi mocks and functional prototypes. Candidates must be responsive, flexible, and able to succeed in a fast-paced collaborative peer environment without supervision.
Responsibilities
In this role you will have a significant impact on our growing business. You will work collaboratively with engineers, product managers, executives, and other design teams across Amazon—leading and championing design throughout the planning and development process. In this role you will also be a senior member of the Kindle Content Design Studio, working closely with the team responsible for designing Amazon's Kindle reading, shopping, and publishing products. * Lead a team of designers. * Fluency in best practices for information architecture and interaction design, user-centered design processes, and a strong knowledge of UX principles and techniques. * Create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, high fidelity mockups, detailed UI and visual design specifications (redlines) for web interfaces. * Work closely with cross-functional teams to help define best-in-class user experiences. * Understand target users deeply: develop or work from user profiles & conduct task analysis, create user scenarios or user stories, help to create and analyze user research. * Request and drive user research/usability tests as needed. * Must be able to conduct research on your own or be able to lead a contractor to provide these services. * Actively participate in usability testing and interpret analytics data. * Present design work to the product team, engineering team, business stakeholders and executives for review and feedback. * Contribute to user interface design and development best practices and standards at Amazon. * Partner with highly technical development teams for product launches. * Handle multiple projects in an agile, fast-paced environment.
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor's degree in design, human-computer interaction (HCI), or equivalent professional experience. * At least 3 years of experience as a people manager of design teams in fast-paced buisness envioronments. * At least 5 years of experience as a user experience designer, interaction designer, information architect, researcher, or similar role, and using a variety of design tools such as Skethc, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. * An online portfolio or samples of work demonstrating experience creating great user-centered design solutions and UI design expertise is a requirement for application * Proven track record presenting to and influencing management. **Preferred Qualifications:** * Strong information architecture skills. * Relevant work experience in the eCommerce space. * Experience working in a collaborative team and working directly with developers for implementation of designs. * Solid written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present strong rationale for design decisions.
