(Santa Maria, California)As an integral part of a multidisciplinary ideation team, the Industrial Designer generates ideas and develop concepts for future business class seating products.
- Generates creative and effective business class seating solutions.
- Takes input from customers and sales teams to predict industry trends and market opportunities.
- Creates 3-D models of concepts using CATIA V5 and 3DS MAX.
- Performs ergonomic and usability studies to validate designs.
- Collaborates with engineers to develop holistic solutions.
- Ensures that designs comply with FAA and OEM regulations.
- Generates photorealistic rendering of new concepts and existing products for use in promotional materials and design validation.
- Remotely oversees work commissioned from outside agencies.
- Travels to mock up builders to support construction and verify design accuracy.
- Travels to expositions to present design projects to customers and Zodiac sales teams.
- Develops promotional materials to support the presentation of the design pieces.
- Provides status updates on all industrial design activities, Identifies areas of risk and opportunity, Drives new and improved design processes, Builds cross BU commonality in design methodology daily.
- Coordinates, monitors, and drives the development of new materials, the sourcing of material samples, and the development of mock-ups.
Qualifications
- Education : BA in Industrial Design or a design related discipline
- Experience : 3+ years of experience in industrial design
- Highly proficient in CATIA V5, 3DS Max, V-Ray, Adobe Creative Suite
- Knowledge of general manufacturing processes , aerospace experience is a plus
- A passion for design, innovation, and achieving excellence
