Summary
Provides advocacy for sexual assault and/or domestic violence victims and will act diplomatically and respectfully toward victims, significant others, police, and hospital staff, while providing emergency medical accompaniment to all of the local hospitals in York County and other medical facilities as appropriate. The advocate will be available to offer support to the victim and family at the hospital and will remain with the victim throughout the medical examination, evidence collection, and police interviews. Listen and provide support to callers in crisis and/or in need of information, offer referrals, and resources to crisis line callers. Provide support, options counseling, information, and referrals to all victims. Must be dedicated to the mission of YWCA York. These two position will work 8 am to 4 pm, 5 days on and two days off, to include weekends. Seeking qualified bilingual applicants.
Responsibilities
* Be on call to respond to the Emergency Room, answer hotline calls, and conduct intakes overnight. * Work to provide support services, nondirective counseling, information, and referrals. * Ensure that all information, statistical reports, and paperwork for clients are maintained and submitted in a timely manner. * Maintain strict confidentiality with all materials associated with the agency’s clients and files. * Oversee shelter clients and enforce rules and regulations of ACCESS –York Emergency Shelter. * Participate in house meetings, staff meetings, and direct service meetings. * Other duties as required or assigned.
Ideal Candidate
**Education and Experience:** * High School diploma or equivalency certificate. **Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:** * Reliable transportation and a valid Driver’s License. * Ability to maintain strict confidentiality guidelines of ACCESS-York and the Victim Assistance Center of YWCA York. * Completion of PCAR/PCCD/PCADV advocate training. * Ability to remain calm in a crisis situation. * Must be able to respond quickly and compassionately to hotline and Emergency Department calls throughout the shift. * Experience with crisis response and/or conflict management a plus. * Exceptional interpersonal and professionalism skills essential. **Competencies:** * Shows respect and sensitivity for cultural differences. - Treats people with respect; Works with integrity and ethically; upholds organizational values. * Approaches others in a tactful manner; Reacts well under pressure; Treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position. * Observes safety and security procedures. * Adapts to changes in the work environment. **Physical Requirements:** * In addition to the duties listed above, this position also has physical components as listed below.
