Summary
The Senior Tax Accountant reports to the Tax Director and is responsible for preparing, maintaining and defending Income Tax, Sales Tax, Property Tax, Excise Tax and other non-income tax related filings. The Senior Tax Accountant must have a solid understanding of ASC 740 accounting for income taxes and possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and be able to learn quickly.
Responsibilities
* Prepare consolidated U.S. and state income tax returns * Analyze book/tax income differences and federal/state income differences * Complete state apportionment workpapers * Prepare federal and state estimates and extensions * Maintain fixed asset ledgers for tax * Assist with inquiries and correspondence from taxing authorities * Prepare annual and quarterly ASC 740 tax provision calculations * Defend and support returns during federal and state tax audits * Prepare forecasts of tax payments for budgeting and cash flow * Assist in the development and implementation of tax planning opportunities * Monitor new tax legislation and impact to the company * Prepare various monthly and annual gross receipts and excise taxes * Manage real property, personal property and business license taxes * Prepare sales and use tax returns * Prepare other non-income tax returns * Manage special projects * Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned
Ideal Candidate
* Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.) environment. * Must be proficient with general ledger and accounting systems. * Knowledge of Cognos’ TM1 or other data mining software package. * Experience with CCH or RIA tax research software. * Experience with federal and state tax compliance software. * Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and effective communication skills are also required with a desire and ability to work and communicate as a team.
