Cash Analyst

Valero Energy Corporation, through its subsidiaries, is an international manufacturer and marketer of transportation fuels, petrochemical products and power. Valero subsidiaries employ approximately 10,000 people, and assets include 15 petroleum refineries with a combined throughput capacity of approximately 3 million barrels per day, 11 ethanol plants with a combined production capacity of 1.4 billion gallons per year, and a 50-megawatt wind farm.

This position is vital to minimize costs, enhance profitability and ensure that Valero Energy’s cash management objectives are met. Subject to controls, persons in this position can: apply receipts (wire, ACH, lockbox and local check deposit) to the proper customer receivable or general ledger account; develop and maintain spreadsheets and records transactions in SAP.

* Responsible for the timely and accurate recording of cash receipts for VEC and its U.S. subsidiaries. * Responsible for the domestic lockbox, and local check deposit processes. * Responsible for the daily incoming domestic ACH process. * Works with Credit, Marketing, and Accounting to research and resolve questions about the application of customer receipts for miscellaneous, bulk, and rack. * Assists external customers with any issue(s) that may arise daily. * Serves as the back-up for the Cash Receipts team’s domestic and international processes as needed. * Assists with SAP testing due to system upgrades or enhancements. * Performs special projects as assigned by management. * This position may be required to work during certain company holidays when the banks are open and transacting business.

* High school diploma or GED required. * Minimum five (5) years clerical accounting experience in cash management or accounting required. * Experience in bank operations is preferred. * Proficient skills using various bank web-based systems required. * Good analytical and number skills required. * Good communication skills are required to interact with both internal and external customers required. * Computer typing skills and 10-key by touch experience required. * Knowledge of the refining industry operations is preferred. * Knowledge of SAP is preferred. * Basic understanding of banking industry regulations relating to cash transactions preferred. * Knowledge of receipt recording processes to facilitate the resolution of discrepancies preferred. * Understanding of procedures in dealing with international and domestic regulation relating to banking transactions preferred. * Ability to analyze and resolve problems in a timely manner required. * Ability to grasp new concepts quickly required. * Ability to abide by confidentiality requirements when working with sensitive information, results, and communications required. * Ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal methods required. * Ability to accomplish work within required timelines, including short, long, and emergency timeframes required. * Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (i.e. Word and Excel) required.
