The Staff Accountant will work closely with both the general accounting team and the Accounts Payable associate. You will be responsible for supporting the accuracy and efficiency of the Cash Management process, the Accounts Payable process, and all Tax reporting. As part of a small team you will play an integral and visible role in creating efficiencies and best practices in a constantly growing and evolving Accounting & Finance department. You will work closely with all members of the Accounting team and report directly to the Accounting Manager.
* Manage the AP monthly close and work with technical team to resolve any discrepancies * Maintain daily technical interface between ERP and external AP platform and troubleshoot exceptions * Play an integral role in organizational cash management by identifying controls to maintain the accuracy of cash reporting and contributing to disbursement forecasts * Administer the Expensify expense reimbursement platform and process all out of pocket and corporate card reports while ensuring compliance with internal corporate policies, and tax regulations * Take a lead role in transitioning to electronic payments * Direct the new vendor setup and current vendor maintenance with 3rd party processor to ensure accurate setup and documentation * Manage manual payment entries (wires, ACH, and EFT) * Oversee the expense accrual process as part of ME close * Perform monthly reconciliation of Goods Received not Vouchered account * Assist in invoice entry including high touch invoices and FX conversions * Understand all aspects of AP in order to provide out of office backup for AP Associate * Maintain ERP FX rates * Administer NYS Use Tax accrual process * Manage annual 1099 filings * Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual Sales Tax filings and regulatory audits * Assist with annual year end audit requests and other ad hoc projects
Ideal Candidate
**Skill Requirements** * Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting * 2+ years accounting or accounts payable experience * Mac OS proficient, with PC proficiency for Excel, Word, and general ledger systems (JDE preferred) * Detail oriented and organized * Ability to think analytically * Flexible with job assignments * Strong communication skills (verbal and written) * Able to multi-task and meet deadlines * Passion and excitement to work in a startup environment **You...** * …..have stellar communication skills and are able to converse professionally with vendors and all levels of an internal organization * …..are ecstatic about organization and dream up efficient filing systems in your sleep * ….have an eye for details and are able to read an invoice for accuracy * ….are self-motivated and constantly searching for ways to do any job better * ….are genuinely interested in accounting concepts and are always looking to expand on your professional knowledge
