Summary
In coordination with the Executive Director and other staff, the Director manages many aspects of coordinating programs and developing marketing and communications strategies for membership involvement and sponsorship support toward the advancement of goals and objectives of the district council. Builds close working relationship with members and District Chair. The Director reports to the Executive Director and should have the capacity to lead, execute, and complete programs and initiatives when called upon. The Director must be a hardworking, proactive, innovative, self-reliant, and detail-oriented person with strong knowledge of ULI’s core issues and those policies and practices of highest interest to our members.
Responsibilities
* Develops and implements a program of work for the district council pursuant to the adopted Strategic Plan that provides for clear outcomes and methods to measure success in achieving said outcomes or results. * Manages the planning and implementation of the district council’s program of work including, subject to market factors: * Young Leaders Group programs and events; * Policy & Practice initiatives; * Local technical advisory panels; * Building Healthy Places program and workshops; * Local Product Councils (residential, commercial, others); * Communications; * In collaboration with key volunteers, the manager of programs, and the Executive Director, develops and implements programs and events throughout the region focused on, among other subjects, real estate trends, sustainability/smart growth, housing, infrastructure, and capital markets; and * District Council Annual Report. * Develops, refines, and implements a comprehensive sponsorship program that engages the sponsorship committee in securing financial support to sustain district council activities, and a plan that incorporates efforts to maintain and service district council sponsors to encourage renewals and long-term sponsorship. * Contributes and executives innovative revenue strategies including grantsmanship and development of new Product Councils. * The Director will assist with the coordination of other district council responsibilities related to staffing committees, and creating budgets and recertification plans for yearly review. The Director works directly with ULI members and vendors, the District Council Chair, members of the Executive Committee, and members of committees. * Develops and maintains relationships with local nonprofits, public agencies, community leaders, local universities, and other related professional groups. * Helps measure the metrics and success of ULI Colorado programs and initiatives, including evaluations of technical assistance panels’ recommendations, workshops, and mentoring programs. * Leads and manages multiple volunteer committees to develop and meet goals and objectives for programs/community outreach, membership involvement, and sponsorship support. * Manages budgets and tracks expenses and revenues for the district council and by programs, events, solicitations, etc. * Manages, creates, and/or updates marketing and communications for the district council, including, but not limited to, the local district council website, newsletters, membership directories, and press releases.
Ideal Candidate
* 7 to 10 years of experience in local real estate and land use, community relations, and/or nonprofit administration preferred. Experience in events planning helpful. BA degree required. * Community-minded person with strong commitment to ULI members and to our mission. * Degree or experience in urban planning, public administration, and real estate development a plus. * May be required to manage a small staff. * Proven ability to grow and retain membership and sponsorship base. * Computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and PowerPoint. Knowledge of Photoshop or graphic design skills a plus. * Professional oral and written communication and interpersonal skills to work with senior business and public sector executives. * Strong project management skills. * Experience working with and managing volunteers. * Ability to prioritize tasks and handle multiple tasks concurrently and completely, with responsible follow-through. * Able to initiate and complete tasks and programs independently. * Strong organizational and time-management skills. * Use of personal vehicle may be needed for local travel. * Some out-of-state travel may be required.
