Responsibilities
Responsibilities: This position is responsible for, but not limited to, the following: - Provides leadership and mentorship and directs the day-to-day supervision of billing/collection staff. - Reviews and improves billing and collections processes on a continuous basis. Formalize policies and procedures involving workflows. - Ensures all insurance and governmental claims are being paid to Continuum in accordance with contractual agreements (Letter of Agreements i.e. LOAs) in a timely manner. - Identifies and drives collection metrics and provides regular communication to stakeholders (Director of Operations and Corporate finance personnel). - Conducts analysis of aged accounts receivable (A/R) and follows up on denied claims to collect outstanding receivables. - This will include verbal and written communication to appeal denials to insurance companies and government agencies. - Develops; implements and monitors productivity and quality to ensure standards are met. - Maintains patient information in accordance with HIPAA, PHI and regulatory requirements. - Audits the billing and collections activity for compliance and accuracy on a regular basis. - Point of contact for inquiries from accounting staff, corporate finance, auditors, and payers regarding accounts receivable and collection metric matters.
Ideal Candidate
Minimum Qualifications: - High school diploma (or GED equivalent) and have 2-5 years of previous experience in medical billing/collections in a medical office, clinical site, or billing/collections office or an equivalent combination of education and experience. - Must have previous health care supervisory experience with billing and collections and billing software experience. Additional Qualifications: - Bachelor’s Degree preferred. - Experience with writing performance reviews, employee relations, interviewing for hire, disciplinary action write-ups, and counseling employees. - Must have knowledge of general office procedures using office equipment. - Strong at execution, follow-up and attention to detail. - Commitment to process improvement and the ability to think “out-of the box”. - Strong leadership experience, including excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. - A team player, adept at building relationships within the team and across the organization. - Excellent problem solving and analytical skills. - Ability to recognize performance quality and motivate others towards improved performance. - Possesses excellent organizational, time management, and multi-tasking skills in order to meet commitments and deadlines. - Ability to work independently and demonstrate consistent customer focus. - Recognizes the entire scope of an issue and participate objectively towards resolution with other team members. - Maintains professional personal appearance. - Ability to verbally communicate details and understand parameters of job responsibilities. - Takes initiative to learn Company organization and procedures. - Maintains the highest professional and ethical standards in conducting day-to-day business. - Adheres to all Company HIPAA compliance regulations, business and professional ethics, and confidentiality and privacy regulations as outlined in the Employee Handbook. - Requires an in depth understand of compliance, regulatory oversight bodies and payer requirements. - Represents the Company in a positive, customer friendly attitude to other employees, clients, agencies, entities and patients.
