Position Specifications:
The Chief Credit Officer (GSE) manages, directs, and controls the loan activities of Sabal’s GSE lending platform in the areas of financial analysis, underwriting, portfolio management and, based on Sabal’s delegations of authority, will approve or decline GSE loans. Provides guidance to lending group, underwriters and analysts with respect to the Company’s Credit Policies and compliance with lending regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the full range of managerial duties for the loan review, compliance, collections, and credit analysis functions including adherence to policies and practices of the organization and applicable regulatory and governmental agencies.
- Responsible for implementing a system of credit analysis and quality assurance for loans made as required by GSE and board of directors; assign ratings as needed in conjunction with loan loss reserve analysis.
- Examine files periodically to audit credit and collateral documentation, regulatory compliance, and loan policy conformance; review technical exceptions and deficiencies; maintain reports of continued outstanding exceptions to the Board of Directors.
- Prepare written analyses on all large loans, aggregate lending vs. indebtedness for individual borrowers, complex loans, and weak loans.
- Identify problem loans, makes recommendation for assignment of loans to review loan list that is reviewed quarterly with the board; discuss the status of problem loans with the CFO and senior lending officers and may make recommendations regarding the future credit information needs; identify loans meeting non - accrual or charge-off criteria.
- Provide quarterly analyses of the adequacy of the allowance for loan losses for board discussion.
- Prepare periodic board reports.
- Prepare periodic studies of various portions of the loan portfolio including past due reports, concentrations of credit, etc. for the benefit of supervisory and executive officers.
- Based on compliance or loan reviews and the dissemination of other pertinent facts, evaluate and recommend policy changes.
- Monitors market activity, conducts market analysis, and recommends loan credit and rate changes.
- Formulates, reviews and implements lending policies and procedures. Ensures that the origination and maintenance of loans meet all policy and regulatory requirements.
- Maintains good level of communication between all business lines, as well as intra-divisional communications. Works closely with other management to ensure lending efforts are in support of and being supported by the team.
- 8 – 10 years’ experience in financial lending and expertise in all aspects of GSE real estate lending.
- Four year degree in Business, Finance or a related field of study.
- Knowledge of the sales of mortgage loans into secondary market.
- Working knowledge of loan program products and services
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Strong supervisory, team management and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- High level of integrity and confidentiality required.
- Advanced knowledge of Excel.
- Ability to understand and solve problems, analyze and interpret data, manage multiple projects with competing deadlines, and be detail oriented.
- Attention to detail, prioritization skills, responsiveness and ability to meet tight deadlines are essential.
