Summary
The Product Management Senior Director will lead and drive the development and implementation of the business strategy and product portfolio. This position is responsible for running a business with a significant revenue base and customer reach. The goal of this position is to grow this business organically and through M&A to establish it as a market leader. This role reports directly to the GM/VP of the business unit and has significant visibility and support in this growing business.
Responsibilities
* Drive the business strategy, leveraging organic and inorganic levers * Lead a team of 10-15 including seasoned, independent product managers, applications specialists and customer support. * Build a high performance team by hiring, training and coaching employees. * Articulate and develop a go to market strategy for the business. * Manage the product portfolio and the overall product life cycle including new product development. * Work with Corporate Development team to evaluate new business opportunities. * Manage business relationships and contract negotiations with external partners. * Establish relationships with standard-setting bodies and key opinion leaders. * Partner with the Sales team to create effective Sales strategies that reach target customer segment. * Partner with the Marketing team to position and establish robust competitive selling strategies for the commercial organization.
Ideal Candidate
**Requirements:** * Prior general management and/or product management experience of a business, with at least $50M in revenue, including P&L responsibility. * Demonstrated ability to build and execute a multi-year product development strategy (i.e. a product ‘roadmap’). * Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated & a driving force of product development in their current or past organizations. Leadership and communication skills to accomplish goals through coordination and directions of others. Strong leadership skills, with track record of hiring, developing and leading high-performing teams of at least 10 people. * Proven success with technology transitions and strategies to balance investments in core products and emerging technologies. Experience with NGS (next-generation sequencing) is a plus. * A global perspective to develop products that meet global and region-specific needs. Strong experience with growing businesses in emerging markets, especially the Middle East, China, Russia, India, South America and Africa. * Strong experience with on-market support and driving quality improvements. * Forensics experience is a plus. * Previous experience with M&A and integration efforts is a plus. * Bachelor's degree in a Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or related field of study.
