Summary
Lubrizol Advanced Materials has an immediate need for highly motivated, results-oriented Senior Product Manager for our business located in Brecksville, Ohio. The Senior Product Manager is a strategic role (individual contributor or first level manager) and is responsible for setting specific product line strategies based on the needs of the selected business or market segments and as agreed with market segment leaders, and in coordination with the Business Development Director.
Responsibilities
* Partner with sourcing, operations, supply chain planning and process technology to optimize the cost structure, operational efficiency and strategic sourcing of their assigned product lines, with particular emphasis on differentiated products and technologies, from key raw materials to finished goods. * Drive product line specific innovation targeted at defined product market needs and product portfolio enhancement. * Build and command a strong understanding of the competitive environment for their assigned product lines. * Optimize the profitability and composition of their product lines, balancing business needs, product life cycle, product value, and the cost of complexity. * Develop strategy for assigned product line(s), aligned with overall business and product portfolio strategic goals. * Manage the effective execution of strategy for assigned product line(s), leading to sustainable, profitable growth. * Develop and drive the pricing strategy for assigned product line(s), consistent with overall business and portfolio pricing strategies and in collaboration with Sales and Marketing (regional and global). * Strengthen business, customer and competitive intelligence around assigned product line(s), and provide specific strategic recommendations to strengthen market leadership positions and optimize value delivery. * Provide strategic recommendations to Sales and Marketing to optimize product mix, identify future product requirements, and define and consolidate product needs and requirements. * Work with third party agencies to secure and maintain certifications and standards required to retain business or to drive incremental growth and value in the product line(s). * Work closely with Regulatory and Product Safety and Compliance to understand and formulate effective responses to issues impacting the current and future business. * Collaborate with Research and Development to ensure the product lines’ new business development programs are progressing effectively through the development process, and with the appropriate speed. * Continuously evaluate the customer and market segmentation of the business, providing recommendations on adjustments as needed. * Develop effective working relationships with Operations to define asset needs, capabilities, sourcing points, cost improvement opportunities, and other activities related to implementation of the product line strategy. * Proactively identify underperforming product(s) or product lines within the platform and take appropriate actions to improve performance.
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s degree with concentration in engineering, operations or business management * Master’s level education or equivalent professional experience strongly preferred * Minimum 7 years of experience in product management, operations, process technology or supply chain planning, and / or minimum 7 years commercial experience, including sales, marketing, or business development * Specialty plastics or engineered materials industry experience strongly preferred * Strong understanding of finance and accounting principles and operational metrics * Ability to translate complex financial, technical and product data into insights and action plans * Experience influencing and exercising leadership across diverse, multi-disciplinary teams across multiple geographies * Ability to travel domestically and internationally
