Summary
The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) seeks an Associate Director of Digital and Social Media Marketing to support the Office of Publishing & Member Services. AAAS is aggressively looking to grow its digital, web and consumer focused capability by adding top tier talent across the company and within the marketing team. The Associate Director for Digital and Social Media Marketing is responsible for the development, execution and optimization of digital and social media initiatives and programs touching a variety of digital channels to develop customer-centric online marketing experiences that expand the online footprint of AAAS and help to grow revenue. The Associate Director will be responsible for creating maximum engagement across digital consumer touch points for specific campaigns. The campaigns will execute as required to support all marketing areas.
Responsibilities
- Sets the marketing team’s digital execution plans across multiple consumer touch points, and works on growing the digital audience by developing highly innovative marketing campaigns through digital channels and experiences; coordinates within larger global marketing programs to ensure robustness of elements delivered and tracks ROI of digital investments - Creates best-in-class engaging content marketing across digital properties, while consistently maintaining standards and guidelines for Science portfolio - Provides clear, high-impact communication, staying ahead of a complex schedule, and maintaining cutting-edge knowledge of the online content space, and the quickly-evolving social and mobile ecosystems - Plans and executes various digital display, SEO/SEM, social, email, push, and mobile display advertising campaigns - Measures and reports performance of all digital marketing campaigns, and assesses against goals (ROI and KPIs) - Brainstorms new and creative growth strategies and campaign ideas to elevate brand awareness and drive sales; partners with agencies of record to develop briefs and guide the strategic framework of a campaign’s digital activation - Plans, execute, and measure experiments and conversion tests by instrumenting conversion points and optimizing the user funnel - Utilizes strong analytical ability to evaluate end-to-end customer experience across multiple channels and customer touch points - Ensures alignment of digital engagement programs within the broader global marketing campaigns
Ideal Candidate
- Extensive university or college-level training leading to a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communication or related field required; advanced business degree preferred - A minimum of five years of experience in integrated digital and social media marketing - Proven ability to innovate and deliver highly impactful digital marketing campaigns - Demonstrated understanding of metered and solid paywalls, conversion paths, form optimization and other elements with converting site visitors into subscribers - Exceptional knowledge of digital trends and social media technologies pertinent to driving digital audience growth and engagement - Experience in managing the digital campaigns from conception through implementation and reporting - Strong cross-functional experience with the ability to manage multiple projects on various levels with different and converging timelines - Comfortable with numbers and analysis of campaign metrics (KPI’s) - Strong ability to work independently and cooperatively in a global team environment to achieve goals - Strong oversight on campaign metrics and the ability to course correct and reprioritize - Superior communications skills, verbal and written, along with the ability to present dynamically and effectively
