Summary
The Area Sales Manager (ASM) will be directly responsible for leading a Team of Inside Account Managers (IAMs) and for implementing the appropriate sales strategies to ensure that the IAM's meet defined goals and objectives through the use of the IAM selling process. With guidance from the Regional Sales Director, the ASM develops and executes strategies for driving sales and margin as well as Line of Business opportunity development and IAM engagement.
Responsibilities
* Perform all management activities of the IAM Team including, but not limited to, performance evaluation, recruiting, training, education, and goal setting * Act as liaison across all Staples sales channels to coordinate sales activities and drive penetration of Lines of Business and services within IAM owned accounts * Effectively, coach, guide and develop Inside Account Managers * Prepare sales and activity reports, presentations and communications for the IAM team * With guidance from the Regional Sales Director, develop, communicate and execute performance metrics to meet team objectives for sales, GP and line of Business penetration * Exhibits proactive communication, assess the need for immediate action and executes accordingly
Ideal Candidate
**Basic:** * Minimum of 5 years of experience in a business-to-business selling environment * Strong leadership, management and organization aptitude * Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) * Excellent presentation skills * Strong influencing skills, verbal and written fluency * Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite with a strong emphasis on presentation development * Ability to drive sales and margin results * Ability to build partnerships across the organization * Exhibit proactive communication; assess the need for immediate action **Preferred:** * Bachelor's degree * 1-3 years of related leadership experience
