Summary
The Vice President of Finance, Technology will have responsibility for implementing corporate financial policy and plans and formulating such policy and plans for the Sabre, helping to execute against the operational and strategic objectives of the organization. This position will oversee the budget, cost control and capital planning as well as provide strategic financial leadership with a strong influence over improving the productivity of the software development activities and delivering increased efficiency in the infrastructure technology operations.
Responsibilities
**Specific Responsibilities** * Assure accurate analysis and reporting of ROIC across the technology platform, enabling the business to link business and financial outcomes with the investment in technology. * Identify, measure, and drive productivity across a complex global software development organization. * Break down silos and promote collaboration. * Drive cost efficiencies and demonstrate the scalability of the technology platform. * Improve financial systems to efficiently identify cost drivers by business unit, customers and products, from fragmented and disparate information sources, in support of strategic and operational initiatives that assure the efficient operation of the day-to-day Finance business function. * Provide finance lead support in the execution of the Product & Technology strategy, including initiatives around Portfolio Management, Technology Platforms, Solution Development, Operations and Delivery Excellence, and High-Performance Organizations. **Additional Responsibilities** * Direct and coordinate product and technology financial planning and budget management functions. * Recommend benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance. * Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget. * Oversee daily operations of the product and technology finance department. * Manage the preparation of financial reports. * Manage the preparation of financial outlooks and financial forecasts. * Prepare financial analysis for contract negotiations and product investment decisions. * Work with product and technology department managers to develop multi-year business plans. * Assist in establishing short and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures. * Design, establish, and maintain an organizational structure to effectively accomplish the department goals and objectives. * Serve as finance lead on Product and Technology strategic initiatives. * Identify control weaknesses in IT and IT Financial processes and recommend solutions to address issues.
Ideal Candidate
**Experience** The ideal candidate will have 10 to 15 years of experience in a senior level finance position in a software development organization, preferably deployed through a SaaS model. He/she will have an expert knowledge of finance, capital allocation and risk adjusted return, accounting, budgeting, performance management, and cost control principles. Superior communication skills with an ability to communicate complex issues in a crisp, clear and concise way will be ideal. In addition, having the ability to identify problems, formulate solutions, influence others, and drive results are important skills for this role. A Master’s degree is preferred. **Competencies** **Qualified candidates for this important position will need to demonstrate the following core competencies:** * **Financial Sophistication:** The ideal candidate will have demonstrated the ability to implement corporate financial policy and plans, as well as develop financial policy and plans for a business unit or division. He/she will have had oversight of a budget, cost control and capital planning, in addition to demonstrated success in providing strategic financial leadership and influence over improving financial results and systems. * **Strategic Orientation:** The successful candidate will be creative and capable of thinking broadly about business – not just financial issues. The candidate will have the ability to work with senior management, to help shape a business and financial strategy. He/she will demonstrate how they partner with and provide thought-leadership to senior management and the business unit manager and provide them with insightful, value-added advice, drawing on the information and analysis of the team. This involves active management in real time, not just reporting the performance after the fact, questioning broad strategic plans and results, partnering on developing improvements and enhancements, and challenging assumptions. * **Results Orientation:** The ideal candidate will have a track record of consistently delivering significant year-over-year improvement in financial results in a software or technology business characterized by a high sense of urgency and a need for change and continuous improvement. The candidate must show their ability to identify and drive efficiencies across a complex, global software development or IT organization. He/she will have demonstrated an ability to improve financial systems to effectively identify cost drivers to support strategic and operational initiatives, insuring the efficient operation of the day to day finance function. This individual will not be satisfied with simply achieving goals, but will seek out ways to consistently exceed them. * **Team Leadership:** The successful candidate will be a “change champion,” breaking down silos and promoting collaboration, while building deep organization strength to impact the future growth and profitability of the business.
