Summary
Sapphire Blue, a division of Ryan Specialty Group Underwriting Managers, is looking for an energetic Underwriting Assistant. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in the long term care insurance and have the ability to work in a fast-paced and team orientated atmosphere. Under the guidance of underwriters and managers, the underwriting assistant will need to analyze a large number of insurance applications and screen applicants based on certain criteria. The underwriting assistant will need to continuously demonstrate the ability and desire to hone their underwriting knowledge and skillset through onsite development and other forms of education.
Responsibilities
* Assist Underwriting team by processing new business submissions, renewals, endorsements, policy writing instructions, and other transactions in order to help reach growth, retention and other business goals. * Gather exposure data, checking rates for various coverage options, and entering information into multiple types of systems. * Help prepare clear, accurate policies and billing instructions for business policy production as well as verify the policy was produced accurately and on time. * Responds promptly about processing, policy change requests, billing status, new applications, and ratings as well as follow up on missing information. * Properly document and organize underwriting files with accurate, clear and complete information. * Review and monitor policies, processes, procedures and potentially recommend changes to management to improve productivity. * Additional duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor's Degree preferred, but not required. * Prior relevant long term care insurance work experience preferred, not required. * Organized with exceptional attention to detail. * Pro-active, self-motivated, ability to work independently. * Excellent computer skills including typing proficiency. Microsoft Office proficiency with an emphasis in Excel spreadsheets, and industry research tools. * Strong written and verbal communication skills. * Ability to multi-task. * Capacity to understand concepts and drive to succeed in a team environment. * Active pursuit of industry designations preferred, but not a requirement.
