Summary
The Data Assurance Analyst is a control and oversight position on the Technology team reporting to the Chief Information Officer. The Manager is accountable for the overall accuracy and reliability of financial reporting systems, data, calculations, documentation testing, monitoring, and escalation from a technical perspective. They also participate in quality assurance testing and may interact with a variety of team members across the enterprise. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience in a multitude of domains including, but not limited to: accounting, finance, SOX, agile development, business analysis, software engineering, software architecture, technology leadership, and software quality assurance. They will also have extensive and relevant experience understanding business problems, understanding software architecture and databases, expanding user stories into test cases, understanding basic accounting principles, understand the requirements of working within a SOX environment, and interfacing executive level team members. The candidate should also have a reputation as a trusted technology advisor to business peers and partners.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate with the accounting management team, senior technical staff, SOX Manager, and others to develop and maintain an on-going strategy to ensure the technical integrity and accuracy of all financial reporting systems and technology * Maintain ownership of the technical documentation for financial reporting data definitions, calculation logic, and an integrated dependency map * Maintain ownership of the technical approval process and resulting artifacts for changes to financial reporting data definitions, calculation logic, and an integrated dependency map * Collaborate with the technical training team to produce curriculum and material used to educate engineers, business analysts, and other technologist on the critical need for accuracy in the financial reporting system, data, and calculations * Collaborate with senior technical leaders and the CIO to obtain technical approval for financial reporting data definitions, calculation logic, and an integrated dependency map * Collaborate with the Accounting Product Manager to achieve Controller, VP of Accounting, or CFO approval for financial reporting data definitions, calculation logic, and an integrated dependency map * Collaborate with cross-functional project teams to design, document, and implement testing plans and test case comprehensively test systems that integrate with or in any way impact financial reporting data, calculations, or compliance * Collaborate with project teams to design and document system monitoring, reporting, alerting, and issue resolution programs to maintain and safeguard the accuracy of financial reporting * Collaborate with the Accounting Product Manager to regularly produce reports, analyze the data, summarize the results, and present findings that outline the level of accuracy of the financial reporting system to the executive team * Participate in regular controls testing to validate the accuracy of financial reporting * Collaborate with the Sr. Director of Software Engineering and the team to establish and refine common quality assurance tools, techniques, and practices. * Participate in code reviews and database schema reviews for financial reporting technology projects * Promptly communicate and escalate deliverable or accuracy concerns to the senior technology and accounting team leadership
Ideal Candidate
* Seven or more combined years experience in the fields of Software Engineering and/or Quality Assurance * Big 4 Accounting Firm Experience * Three or more years experience working in the accounting field or working with accountants or financial analysts * Two or more years experience in leading problem resolution, issue remediation, and IT deployments * Demonstrated strong personal commitment to quality and attention to detail * Two or more years experience with one or more bug tracking and test automation tools such as: Bonfire, Zypher,Test Director, Quality Center 9, Test Complete, Quick Test Pro, WinRunner, Workspace, Selenium, IBM Rational, or similar * Two or more years experience in formal Project Management methodologies like agile or scrum * Two or more years experience in tactical planning * Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, software engineering, computer science or equivalent documented experience is required * Demonstrated solid understanding of scalable technology architectures * Experience with tools like JIRA, Balsamiq, Green Hopper,Git, Jenkins or something similar
