Summary
The Quality Management team is an integral part of the software delivery process at Boingo Wireless. We are looking for a Lead QA Engineer that will be responsible for leading a small team of QA Engineers/Analysts responsible for planning and testing Boingo Products (Web Apps, Billing, Internal Tools/Products on different devices), Boingo Services (IPTV and Wi-Fi Services) and our Wi-Fi Networks (Network Coverage, Performance, Design) in Agile methodologies. Great Consumer Experience at our venues are most important to Boingo Wireless and this person will be responsible defining end to end test scenarios for better networks and better user experience for end users.This position will work closely with various engineering teams, customer support, product management and our partners to build, drive, and implement end to end Quality Assurance objectives & processes.
Responsibilities
* Manage Network Quality for our Retail Venues (Airports), Military Bases and other Hotspot Operators by defining and measuring various Network Performance KPIs. * Develop End to End, System Test Plan, UAT (User Acceptance Test) plans & Strategies by learning all our Boingo Products & Services and execute those tests in the lab and in the field through functional, integration and load/stress testing. * Develop Automated & Load/Stress Tests with home grown and some commercial tools (SILK, Selenium, Grinder, Ixia/Spirent Tools) * Work closely with cross functional team members (developers, product management, customer support, and partners) to prevent, report and resolve product & network design defects. * Ability to participate in Wireless Standards Committee to drive some of the new roaming and carrier offloading standards (Passpoint, Quality of Services, etc.).
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelors or Master’s degree preferably in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering with 7-10 years of experience in a QA testing role in ISP, Telecom or Wireless companies. * Load/Performance Testing Experience using JMeter, Grinder, Ixia or Spirent tools. * Experience in Automation/Script development (Perl, Shell, etc.) with commercial or home-grown tools. Experience with SILK/Selenium and other tools. * Thorough understanding and experience in Wireless Technologies (802.11a/b/g/n/ac, Passpoint, 802.11u, Cisco Prime, WLC), Radius (AAA), Networking (TCP/IP, HTTP/XML, VOIP/Video Quality) and Database Technologies. * Understanding of various Software Development Life Cycles (primarily Agile/Scrum) & Tools (Splunk, Atlassian Suite, Solarwinds, Ekahau, iPerf, Omnipeek and others). * Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to multitask in a fast paced environment where priorities and projects may change more often. * Ability to travel 25% time for field testing. * Quick learner and able to take initiative to improve products, tools and processes. * Hands on experience in coding/programming in C++, Java and/or C#. * Hands on QA Management/Leadership Experience.
