Summary
Episode is a mobile animated interactive storytelling network and marketplace created by Pocket Gems, a leading mobile entertainment and games company. Episode empowers storytellers to create mobile-first stories, aiming to define storytelling for the 2+ billion people on mobile with stories that are part TV, novel, movie, and mobile game. Since launching in 2014, readers have read over 2 billion chapters and over 2 million storytellers have signed up to create their own stories, including award-winning screenwriters and published novelists. Episode also partners with major studios and industry stars to create stories such as Mean Girls: Senior Year and Demi Lovato: Path to Fame. We are currently looking for a talented 3D Technical Artist to join Pocket Gems in downtown San Francisco. Interfacing with your project’s engineers, artists and designers, you’ll help create tools, enhance the production pipeline and help steer external vendors producing content for our next line of hit mobile games. You should love problem solving, quickly iterating, and start-up environments.
Responsibilities
* Work with the Art Director and other team leads to prototype human character rigs and animation for a mobile storytelling platform.
Ideal Candidate
* An avid gamer across multiple platforms * At least 2 years working in gaming with credit on at least one shipped title * Post Secondary degree in applicable field of study (art, game design, engineering) * Expert level knowledge of 3D Studio MAX including MAXScript * Full understanding of the 3D production pipeline from 2D concept to 3D textured model through to rigging and animation * Ability to study a production pipeline, identify key problem areas and quickly correct with long term solutions * Able to build and support 3D tools to improve production pipelines * Work closely with engineers and designers to create spectacular special effects for characters and environment * Experience coding in Python, C# or C++ is a huge plus! * Able to troubleshoot and smartly correct other artists’ scene files * Proficient using Adobe Photoshop * Strong organizational and file management skills * Able to competently contribute 3D artwork to fulfill project’s needs **Pluses:** * Maya Modeling, UV/texturing
