Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of the NYC Development Manager/Associate are to support the NYC Executive Director in managing aspects of individual and institutional prospect research, engagement, and securing of funds from individuals, foundations, and corporate entities; strengthening data and knowledge management practices; and assisting with communications and event planning in service of engagement and revenue goals. The position will also work closely with members of the National External Affairs team and the NYC Alumni Council. This is a full-time, manager level position with a competitive salary and benefits package. Title of associate or manager, and compensation will be commensurate upon experience Responsibilities - The NYC Development Manager will: - Support Executive Director in managing local individual and institutional giving portfolios and processes including research, development, and engagement (50%): - Conduct research to identify prospective individual and institutional donors - Compose and prepare compelling letters of inquiry, proposals, applications and reports as required for corporate and foundation grants - Maintain grants calendar and effectively communicate grant and report deadlines to contributing parties (program, finance, etc.) - In coordination with the NYC ED staff, maintain and deepen relationships with current corporate and foundation donors, and where appropriate engage directly with institution contacts to steward and update on progress - Support in the management of individual donors, including setting and scheduling workshop visits, and sending tailored communications - Develop and maintain working knowledge of programmatic strengths in service of fundraising goals - Generate new ideas for events, outreach, and communication with current and potential donors - Support the Executive Director in managing the NYC Board of Overseers, and leveraging their personal networks in service of local fundraising needs - Assist Executive Director in strategic thinking to diversify PHE NYC's funding base and leverage existing resources to identify and tap into a new networks of supporters - Support in strengthening local data and knowledge management (20%) - Ensure accurate maintenance of records, prospects, and donor information in multiple databases - Strengthen local team data and knowledge management practices - Support in the creation and preparation of local stewardship and communication materials (15%) - Prepare fundraising reports for the board and support in overall board material packet creation for local board of overseers meetings - Create and send local newsletters, holiday cards, and other targeted communications - Manage the local annual appeal process - Support in additional tasks as needed (15%) - Represent and promote Peer Health Exchange in the community by attending events - Execute all follow up tasks including cultivation of participants through Salesforce entries, emailing, calling, developing photo albums, and one-on-one meetings - Assist in the preparation for and implementation of friendraisers and fundraising events – including organizing workshop visits. - Support the PHE NYC Program team as needed Assist on other tasks as needed
Ideal Candidate
Peer Health Exchange is looking for someone who has the following qualifications: - Is committed to the Peer Health Exchange mission - 1 or more years of development or relevant experience (strong writing skills and event planning; title of associate or manager and compensation will be cocommensurate upon experience) - Has very strong written and verbal communication skills in order to communicate effectively with diverse constituencies including PHE staff, board members, and supporters - Track record of success with institutional giving portfolio and grant writing a plus - Has a Bachelor's degree - Demonstrated ability to proactively set priorities, meet deadlines, and operate independently - Has excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and is extremely detail-oriented - Ability to work in and across several communication platforms and internal systems; familiarity with Salesforce highly preferred - Is comfortable in a fast-paced, high-energy, entrepreneurial environment and the ability to multitask and meet aggressive deadlines - Positive, proactive and personable team player - Familiarity with the New York philanthropic community is a plus
