Summary
The Media Buyer is a key role responsible for planning, negotiating, buying and managing strategy of long form inventory, both part time and 24/7 across multiple channels, including but not limited to cable, broadcast and OTT television. The successful candidate will be steeped in the world of long form media placement of media in the cable and broadcasting industry and will play an integral role in growing the business. Applicants for this role should have solid relationships with the cable industry and be confident in their ability to execute and optimize long form media inventory. This position reports to the COO.
Responsibilities
* Identify available media inventory to include planning, negotiating and placing long form television media buys, both part time and 24/7. * Leverage existing relationships in the cable and broadcast community to strengthen buying capabilities. * Place media, process orders to vendors. Develop timelines with deadlines and specifications for all materials needed. Provide timely placement of all media according to client priorities. * Meet with clients to pitch proposals for media buys. Participate in client meetings to present campaigns, vendor meetings, and internal status update meetings. * Manage media campaigns against client's goals to include analyzing and tracking media results on a regular basis. * The buyer will interact with a variety of external contacts to place orders and negotiate rates and scheduling. * The buyer may communicate with clients on the status of buys in accordance with plans that have been developed and approved by senior management. * Responsible for reconciling all media invoices, reviewing affidavits and ensuring that the media placed is running according to contract. * Pulls competitive data or media research to assist in maintaining our competitive edge in the marketplace. * Researches media information, responds to inquiries and generates cost estimates for account services and clients. * Perform additional duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
**EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:** * Bachelor’s Degree in Communications or related field. * A minimum of three-five years of long form media buying/planning in the cable and broadcasting industry. * Bilingual: English/Spanish a plus but not required. * Must possess strong communication (written & verbal), interpersonal, negotiation, and analytical skills. * Must have effective time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines. * Exemplary attention to detail and follow-through. * Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint, and media software. **KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:** * Must have a thorough understanding of general media planning, buying and placement principles, practices and procedures. * Ability to establish strong relationships with internal and external client groups. * Self-motivated and driven with strong project management skills. * Exceptional analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills. * Ability to multi-task, deliver exceptional results and motivate others in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
