Responsibilities
This position will provide support for primarily the Offices of the Dean of Students, Disability, Re-entry and Veteran Services, and the Vice President for Student Success. Duties and Responsibilities 1. Provide support and coordination of office operations, such as responding to requests for services, answering telephone calls, responding to the walk-in student requests, financial transactions and reconciliation, etc. - Provide knowledgeable answers regarding the services of all three offices. - Working knowledge of approved accommodations. 2. Day-to-day oversight of the administrative calendars for the staff in the Vice President for Students Success, Dean of Students and the Disability, Re-Entry and Veteran Services offices. 3. Help to support the conduct program: - Daily support of Maxient student conduct software. Run reports, schedule meetings, and communicate with students after conduct violations. 3. Enter appropriate data, as needed. - Coordinating Conduct officer’s schedules, along with scheduling conduct meetings. - Administrative support (recording official) for conduct hearings. 4. Help to coordinate and maintain student workers. - Including but not limited to those students performing note taking duties. 5. Producing reports for all facets of the offices of Dean of Student’s, Disability, Re-Entry and Veteran Services, and the Vice President for Student Success. 6. Provide support in helping to coordinate events. 7. Monitoring fiscal accounts and expenditures. 8. IT and web development and maintenance. 9. Creating and marketing promotional material. 10. Help in coordinating events. 11. Directing parents, students, faculty, and staff to the right university contacts.
Ideal Candidate
Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills 1. Two years of post-secondary education plus three years of full (or part-time equivalent) progressively responsible administrative and accounting work experience with an emphasis on customer service, budgeting, fiscal management, office management, and supervisory duties or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. 2. Demonstrated working knowledge of accounting and budgeting principles, practices, and techniques including accounts payable and receivable. 3. Demonstrated competence maintaining records with a high degree of accuracy and close attention to detail 4. Demonstrated competence organizing and prioritizing multiple work assignments, meeting deadlines, and exercising adaptability to changing priorities while maintaining a positive, effective, and professional attitude. 5. Demonstrated competence using personal computers and various software such as word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation, email and internet Microsoft Office software preferred (please list equipment and software used). Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills 1. Experience using Banner. 2. Knowledge of MSU procedures and policies or previous experience working in a higher education setting. 3. Knowledge of disability accommodations, veteran affairs and/or student affairs. 4. Knowledge and experience with Maxient student conduct software, 5. Knowledge and experience with compliance with the Clery Act. The Successful Candidate Will 1. Demonstrate ability to maintain composure under stressful situations. 2. Demonstrate ability to successfully accomplish goals and projects on proscribed deadlines 3. Demonstrate ability to display sound judgment and independent decision making.
