Summary
The Senior Payroll Analyst is responsible for the preparation and processing of a complex multistate payroll which covers corporate shore side and collective bargaining employees. Working with a variety of nonintegrated systems and processes throughout various time zones and employee groups and corporate entities/FEIN’s. Must have acute attention to detail, ability to multitask effectively and work within strict deadlines.
Responsibilities
* Organize, log and track payroll adjustments and other submissions received from various locations. Validate completeness and accuracy of request to ensure alignment with various payroll practices, policies and procedures.2. * Enter employee maintenance items; validate set up against known hierarchy for pay entity or employee group. Post audit changes, run validation reports and submit for additional cross audits. Work closely with Payroll Analyst to ensure that all maintenance is entered timely and accurately. * Process payroll according to established deadlines and timelines. Immediately report delays or technical concerns impacting payroll to the payroll supervisor. Follow up until the issue is resolved and the payroll is approved and finalized. * Review approved timecards for various groups, Balance timecards against time system reports. Question and proactively resolve exceptions. * Supports payroll processes and documents new processes and work aids. Actively looks for ways to improve and streamline processes to create increased accuracy and efficiency. * Actively looks for new opportunities to learn and develop in disciplines and applications that directly impact payroll and processes such as consistently improving technical aptitude and capabilities. * Understanding of multi state payroll regulations to ensure payroll compliance. Understanding of laws regarding wage attachments and payroll deductions, direct deposit and employee consent and confidentiality.8. * Understanding of various Collective Bargaining Agreements and their alignment with payroll calculations, processes and best practices. * Query and create new reports from various systems to analyze payroll data along with employee Masterfile, organizational and employee lists etc. Periodically review data to ensure alignment of data prior to the preparation of various SOX reporting. Runs reports to satisfy a variety of requests for data. * Fosters and builds strong working relationships with business partners at all locations, particularly Human Resources, Benefits, IT, Accounting, Crewing and the Executive Staff and their supports. * Special projects and due diligence as determined by business need. * Prepare monthly account reconciliations to ensure all payroll financial activities have been recorded accurately and timely. * Special projects and due diligence as determined by business need.
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s degree preferably accounting, finance or business major, or the equivalent of 5-7 years education and relevant work experience in payroll utilizing well-known payroll applications. * Analytical - Collects and researches data.
