Responsibilities
* Supports product leader with information and recommendations regarding annual marketing plans and longer-term business plans * Supports product category leader with recommendations on coordinated product and platform strategies and supports the business objectives * Manages product pricing, both new and existing, through competitive research, internal data analysis and sales interaction in conjunction with the pricing team (FP&A) * Provides recommendations on pricing strategies which will enhance product profitability * Monitors current, and anticipate future, consumer and customer needs and preferences by conducting market research * Manages all products in assigned line throughout all stages of their life cycle, developing strategies for development, introduction, continuing contribution, and discontinuance, while maximizing their profitable existence and synergies with all products of the business * Works with Operations to ensure needed product supply at the lowest possible product cost while maintaining quality standards * Assists in the development of promotional plans, advertising campaigns, catalogs, brochures, displays, exhibits, and other support materials * Creates, executes, and maintains a product strategy to guide new product development efforts for each product line – coordinate with New Product Development team and all functional areas and locations * Closely monitors and steers all Engineering and Manufacturing activities concerned with new product or new technology development and product maintenance activities related to products * Ensures accurate forecasting information, particularly as it pertains to new products * Develops a personal expertise on assigned product markets including a complete intelligence file on competitors’ products, pricing, field activity, customer service channels of market distribution and end user preferences * Accounts for competitors within North America with competing entry door products, and service propositions * Coordinates the development of effective packaging, advertising, sales and incentive programs, sales displays, trade show displays and promotional programs * Central point of competitive information regarding Masonite products and services * Supports all Masonite channels with product assortment recommendations, price positions and product marketing/merchandising strategies * Discusses market penetration, pricing, new product justification, changes in existing products, promotional programs with Product Leader and Sales Leader * Monitors profitability of product category and ensure profitability of projects and strategies * Attends trade shows, exhibits, seminars and marketing conferences * Discusses new products, materials and purchased products with sales and technical representatives from outside Masonite International * Contact with vendors to understand potential product opportunities and input on market development * Contacts customers to obtain market information on product sales and market trends * Relates and recommends changes in established market distribution and strategy as necessitated by market and consumer preferences * Coordinates the interpretation of codes and distribution of this information to the sales organization and customers * Seeks legal advice from corporate counsel to ensure propriety of pricing mechanism, trademarks, product labeling, policies and contractual agreements * Demonstrates competency in the Masonite values: Integrity, Customer Commitment, Innovation, Continuous Improvement, Teamwork & Respect and Leadership & Accountability
Ideal Candidate
* Cross-functional experience and postgraduate training in marketing or management preferred * Must possess a keen analytical mind, be strong on planning, detail, accuracy, and be a demonstrably creative thinker * Candidate must possess substantial skills in written and oral communication with all levels of management and outside contacts * Expert’ level skillset regarding project plan development and management * Bachelor’s degree in marketing or related field; MBA/MS preferred * 5-7 years of prior experience in sales, marketing, channel management, and/or product development with progressively more responsibility and a track record of results are required
