Summary
The Senior Manager, Operations Optimization will be responsible for supporting service line process improvement, profitable growth and operations optimization collaboration in a manner that leverages the collective strength and position of LifePoint Health. The Senior Manager of Operations Optimization will guide the design, implementation and standardization of best practices to aid in the development of success measures and the appropriate productivity tools for improving service line performance. Working with senior Health Support Center (HSC) executives, Group leadership and local stakeholders alike, this role will support LifePoint facilities in turning data into meaningful, actionable information to improve service line performance. The Senior Manager of Operations Optimization will quantify the impact of strategic services lines and refine plans for long-term success. Reporting to the Director of Operations Optimization, the Senior Manager will be part of the larger Operations Optimization team and ensure operations efficiency and improvement strategies are standardized and successfully executed at the local level. The Senior Manager will work directly with Group leaders and Service Line clinical experts to develop and implement processes, programs and solutions in alignment with company goals. This position supports the development and supports the execution of operations optimization, performance improvement and labor management standards and processes; and ensures the integrity of optimization standards across the LifePoint enterprise. The position will be housed at the Health Support Center (HSC) in Brentwood, Tennessee.
Responsibilities
* Works collaboratively with HSC, Group and facility leaders to develop operations optimization and process improvement strategies, standards, programs and controls; supports execution and sustainability of standards * Assists and provide ongoing leadership and guidance to align key stakeholders: health support center group leadership and service line clinical experts, hospital operating leaders and identified hospital champions to uncover service line process improvement opportunities * Acts as an internal consultant across LifePoint facilities by leading the design/redesign, development, implementation and monitoring of service line process improvement efforts to enhance quality, operational performance and patient experience * Provides constructive feedback to Group and local leadership regarding operations optimization activities while demonstrating tact and diplomacy in situations of conflict and controversy * Leverages best practices around process engineering (i.e., Six Sigma and Lean Management) tactics, tools and techniques for critical clinical and business operations * Supports facilities’ financial goals by managing and utilizing available operational, clinical and financial tools while demonstrating ROI for continuous improvement * Identifies operations optimization and process improvement champions across the LifePoint enterprise and provide ongoing training for these individuals in the use of LEAN/process improvement tools (i.e., Kaizen, 5S and others) and application/execution of these tools, as well as any certifications therein * Leads cross-functional process design teams to develop and implement solutions to complex operational problems * Communicates routinely with HSC, Group and facility leadership to provide regular updates on operations optimization activities, ensure alignment across organization and adjust strategies as needed * Fosters a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline required; MBA, MHA or advanced degree in related healthcare field strongly preferred * A minimum of five years of experience in a healthcare Systems Engineer or Process Improvement role is required * Clinical experience is highly desired; with particular focus on emergency, cardiovascular or surgical services * Practical experience in LEAN/Six Sigma, existing Green Belt and willingness to obtain Black Belt certification required * Demonstrated track record of delivering results and attaining goals * Proven experience as a project manager including proven success in implementation * Motivated self-starter with strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills * Exceptional verbal and written communications skills * Willing to travel approximately 80% of the time * The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
