Summary
The Director of Operations Optimization will be responsible for leading the service line process improvement portfolio, supporting profitable growth and ensuring collaboration in a manner that leverages the collective strength and position of LifePoint Health. The Director of Operations Optimization will guide the implementation and standardization of best practices, aiding in the development of success measures and the appropriate productivity tools for improving service line performance. Working with senior Health Support Center (HSC) leadership and local stakeholders alike, this role will support LifePoint facilities in turning data into meaningful, actionable information to improve service line performance. The Director of Operations Optimization will quantify the impact of strategic service lines and refine plans for long-term success. The Director of Operations Optimization will provide leadership to the Operations Optimization team to ensure operations efficiency improvement strategies are successfully executed at the local level. The Director will work directly with Group leaders and service line clinical experts to develop processes, programs and solutions that are in alignment with company goals. This position leads the development and supports the execution of operations optimization, performance improvement and labor management standards and processes, and ensures the integrity of optimization standards across the LifePoint enterprise.
Responsibilities
* Works collaboratively with HSC, Group and facility leaders to develop operations optimization and process improvement strategies, standards, programs and controls; supports execution and sustainability of standards * Provides direction and manages operations optimization efforts across the portfolio to ensure standardization and consistency across the enterprise * In conjunction with HSC and Group leadership, develops measurement tools to track and trend service line performance, operational efficiency and financial performance * Leads cross-functional process design teams to develop and implement solutions to complex operational problems * Leads best practices around process engineering (i.e., Six Sigma and Lean Management) tactics, tools and techniques for critical clinical and business operations * Communicates routinely with HSC, Group and facility leadership to provide regular updates on operations optimization activities, ensure alignment across organization and adjust strategies as needed * Effectively negotiates and balances the needs of each operating Group within the context of the larger LifePoint enterprise * Identifies learning and development needs for the Operations Optimization team * Fosters a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline required; MBA, MHA or advanced degree in related healthcare field strongly preferred * At least five years of experience working in a clinical setting at a Director-level Systems Engineer or Process Improvement role is required * Clinical experience is highly desired, with particular focus on emergency, cardiovascular or surgical services * Practical experience in LEAN/Six Sigma, willingness to obtain Black Belt certification * Demonstrated track record of delivering results and attaining goals * Proven experience as a project manager including proven success in implementation * Experience working in multi-acute care facilities * Experience with strategic planning and business development, strong interpersonal and relationship building skills * Motivated self-starter * Willing to travel approximately 30% of the time * The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
