Summary
Libbey Inc. is currently seeking an intellectually driven, organized, and detail orientated Tax Manager within our Corporate Tax department. This position offers a fantastic opportunity to join the global tax function of a U.S. based, multinational, publicly traded corporation. The Tax Manager will take ownership of domestic tax matters including management of U.S. Federal, state and local tax return compliance (co-sourced with outside accounting firm), R&D tax credits, U.S. tax planning and preparation of the company’s quarterly and annual tax provision. And works closely with the Corporate Tax Department leadership and Finance teams worldwide. The candidate must have significant technical and interpersonal skills, coupled with sound judgment and decision making abilities, as well as the ability to communicate complex tax concepts in ways that are meaningful and useful to non-tax professionals.
Responsibilities
* Lead U.S. tax compliance: Preparation and analysis of taxable income; management of outside co-sourcing firm in preparing the Federal, state and local income tax returns; management of U.S. tax calendar ensuring that all filings and required payments are timely made * Lead the company’s quarterly and annual tax provision process under ASC 740: Lead preparation of U.S. federal, state, local and non-U.S. affiliate corporate tax provisions (working closely with other tax managers), deferred tax balances and discrete tax items; prepare and review uncertain tax position documentation; prepare quarterly/annual tax footnote and other required documentation for external auditors * Support Vice President of Tax on tax audits and related matters: Assist with the preparation of information requests and liaising with the IRS and state and local tax authorities * Develop U.S. tax planning strategies: Look to minimize cash taxes and lower effective tax rate working with Vice President of Tax and other management * Develop and train tax staff: Responsible for teaching and mentoring tax analysts
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance * Minimum 6 years of corporate tax experience in industry and/or public accounting firm * Proficient user of Microsoft Excel and Word * Experience with ONESOURCE Tax Provision, a plus * CPA or MST, a plus * Strong technical and analytical skills, including tax research skills * Balance of tax technical knowledge with practical application of tax rules * Excellent communication and relationship building skills * Ability to work with cross-functional teams * Great work ethic and integrity * Ability to travel as necessary – less than 10%
