Summary
Leggett & Platt, Incorporated is seeking a Commodity Manager in the purchasing department at our corporate office in Carthage, Missouri. The Commodity Manager will develop, implement, and maintain commodity strategies that support our company’s business objectives. The selected candidate will evaluate and recommend vendors across the organization while managing ongoing relationships with key suppliers. The position will manage specific commodities as well as single sourcing requests from different business units.
Responsibilities
* Work independently between internal functional groups and external suppliers * Rationalize the supplier base through the solicitation of competitive bids * Collect competitive RFQ’s and analyze received quotations * Analyze market conditions to help predict commodity pricing and availability * Research potential vendors and compare products, prices, and services * Develop and implement commodity strategies to create supply chain efficiencies and reduce commodity purchase costs * Effectively negotiate in all situations with both suppliers and internal customers * Analyze the effect that sourcing and supply decisions have on total business costs * Analyze and implement innovative supply opportunities to deliver best total cost position – part, freight, cost of quality, and inventory * Discuss and agree to the contract terms with suppliers * Review and resolve discrepancies with supplier invoices, grievances, claims, conflicts, product non-conformance or quality issues * Provide goods and services projections to key suppliers to ensure product availability * Coordinate the exchange of technical information regarding product and product processing with adequate safeguards and confidentiality * Participation on cross functional teams to address and resolve problems * Support goals and objectives as established by procurement management
Ideal Candidate
* 5-7 years of purchasing experience * Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Purchasing, or Supply Chain Management * MBA Preferred * CPM, CPSM, CSM, or Equivalent Preferred
