Working at the company’s NY global headquarters and reporting directly to the CFO, the Controller will manage the overall financial and accounting operations of the US parent company and certain international subsidiaries. As a small and growing company, we need a Controller who will roll up his/her sleeves and dive into the details. The Controller must also be a strong communicator, as this role is highly visible within the organization and must interact well with colleagues at all levels and in several different countries.
- Oversee all day-to-day financial and accounting functions in the US
- Work closely with international finance staff to establish consistent and effective accounting procedures and controls.
- Oversee the global monthly and yearly close process, fully own the financial statements in the US and certain international subsidiaries, as well as the global consolidation.
- Lead the annual financial audit
- Assist the CFO with basic client contract issues, and liaise with attorneys for more complex issues
- Work with the CFO on the budgeting process and provide timely and insightful reporting into variances versus budget
- Prepare cash flow forecasts and manage cash
- Work with the CFO on board decks and pitch decks as needed
- Assist with special projects as required, including potential implementation of a new global accounting system
- Oversee and mentor finance staff, ensuring their continued professional growth
- BS in Finance/Accounting and a CPA
- 5+ years of related professional experience
- Must have prior experience in a SaaS company or with SaaS clients
- Must have experience with consolidations and accounting for foreign currency transactions
- Willingness to dig in and roll up sleeves to develop strategy while executing day to day accounting processes.
- Strong analytical skills with ability to evaluate issues, propose and implement solutions with consideration for all downstream implications.
- Demonstrated strong working knowledge, understanding and experience utilizing US GAAP accounting rules and regulations.
- Comfortable posting and reviewing journal entries
- Tech-savvy and comfortable using excel pivot tables and advanced functions; knowledge or willingness to learn advanced Salesforce functions
- Highly responsible, detail oriented, and organized
- Great communicator and mentor, team player
- Used to working in a fast-paced environment
- Experience working in a big four accounting firm a plus
- Ability to speak or understand Spanish and/or French a plus
