Summary
Contributes to the improvement of patient care processes by evaluating the business directives and incorporating IS solutions to meet business goals, objectives and strategies that involve highly complex systems. Brings together people from across the organization to identify these requirements related to clinical information systems functionality. Works in conjunction with IS Team to meet the needs of our common customer, the clinical information system users and the patients they serve.
Responsibilities
* Project manages identification and prioritization of clinical project work requests (PWR) consistent with divisional goals, current trends/requirements specified by governmental and regulatory bodies. * Advises, oversees and supports the use of clinical software systems driving enhancements, training, and problem solving on the systems. * Directs the development of clinical user training materials, training programs, and reference materials including policies and procedures surrounding the management of information. * Provides assessment, consultation and education to hospital leadership on the use of clinical systems and development of an appropriate foundation for supporting the use of the clinical systems in the hospital. * Trains hospital staff in the use of clinical systems and methods for improving auditing and analysis of proper use of clinical systems. * Coordinates training and rollout of IS projects for staff including policies and processes/procedures related to information management system functionality and proper use. * Oversees documentation of clinical work and information flow processes in the long-term acute care facilities that aid in the development of enhancements to the clinical systems. * Analyzes work and information flow process for efficiency and efficacy in collaboration with healthcare providers. * Provides divisional leadership with ideas and approaches to respond to changes in healthcare provider requirements, assumptions, resource constraints (people, time, finances), and system performance issues and criteria. * Assists in the design of pathways to provide clinical documentation of the provision of patient care that is a) appropriate to the individual facility as well as the overall line of business; b) in collaboration with appropriate stakeholders using various communication media (e-mail, face to face meetings, telephone); c) considers workflow and documentation of patient-care related activities; and d) coordinating and streamlining documentation wherever feasible. * Leads formal and informal groups in the development and review of automated systems and workflow. * Oversees quality testing to ensure that identified pathway changes meet stated objectives. * Acts as a liaison between clinical staff/practitioners and information systems developers to interpret needs and wants to the understanding of each stakeholder group.
Ideal Candidate
**Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:** * Conveys and demonstrates expert knowledge of clinical documentation within computer systems, applications development, and testing methodologies. * Proven skills in leading enterprise project teams with large business critical initiatives. * Highly analytical and able to understand the business objectives that drives analysis. * Proven working knowledge of industry standard methodologies and best practices (i.e. Project Life Cycle and System Development Life Cycle). * Expert knowledge of business area being supported. * Self-directed and motivated * Maintains confidentiality of all patients and/or employee information to assure patient and/or employee rights are protected. * Strong computer skills in the areas of word processing and clinical documentation, knowledgeable of medical terminology, ability to rapidly obtain a working knowledge of new software applications. * Ability to travel **Qualifications:** * Bachelor's degree in a clinical discipline (e.g. nursing, respiratory, lab, etc.) or other equivalent degree preferred. * Maintains professional licenses/certifications. * Business Analyst or Project Management Professional certification preferred. * 4 years experience in the clinical discipline (related to the clinical diploma or degree held) in an acute care or long-term care hospital setting with experience in successfully leading an enterprise project or implementation of a clinical system.
