Summary
BabyCenter is seeking a Vice President of Research, Insights & Data to manage the global knowledge needs of BabyCenter. These include trade and consumer research strategy and implementation; insights derived from analytics and users to drive understanding and decisions by business owners for successful products, user experience, and services; and strategies to guide the data team in providing data processing technology algorithms, business intelligence tools, and reporting for internal and external partners. The Vice President will develop and use a deep understanding of company-wide business practices to offer appropriate input into company strategies, operating plans, and allocation of resources. Our ideal candidate is a thought leader who helps keep BabyCenter at the leading edge by collaborating externally with industry experts in the research and data communities to stay current on new research methodologies, trends in web and mobile measurement strategies, trends in the healthcare industry, and emerging technologies. You must be results oriented with a focus on business impact and support of partners, interacting with senior management to understand trends and inform business priorities, and connecting with direct reports, peers, and vendors to interpret information and improve cross-functional processes and programs.
Responsibilities
* Shape research, insights, and data strategy for consumer and trade to continually improve consumer experience and satisfy partner needs for a major impact on short- and mid-term results. * Interact with top management and other major decision-makers to understand and influence company business decisions. * Build and enhance important high-level internal and external relationships. * Lead, mentor, and set objectives for a diverse team of direct reports, directors, and senior managers. * Ensure the ongoing training and development of direct reports. * Evolve organization structure to obtain and allocate resources to achieve strategic and operating goals. * Direct and control the activities of a web analytics function accountable for delivering critical insights to the organization based on the analysis of web and app data. * Direct the development and implementation of the organization's data strategy, including research design, data processing technology, business intelligence tools, and reporting processes. * Oversee the selection, development, and enhancement of software applications that extract data from the Internet and other primary sources, as well as statistical software applications. * Lead in communicating findings to executive management and leverage insights to recommend adjustments to products, services, and techniques. * Stay current on latest trends in research methodologies, web measurement strategies and tactics, and overall industry knowledge. * Engage and manage J&J-supported BabyCenter solutions and partners.
Ideal Candidate
* The ideal candidate will be a seasoned research and data leader, committed to building and supporting consumer and trade research and data experience solutions. **Specific requirements include:** * A graduate degree and a minimum of 12 years’ experience working in the consumer and trade research space with at least 6 of those years in a leadership role. * Proven leadership in setting direction for and achieving objectives of research and analytics in business. * Minimum of 7 years’ experience in the internet space with understanding of media companies. * Deep working knowledge in the following areas: Consumer and trade research qualitative and quantitative methodologies; Web analytics and systems; Advertising impact research; Cross-functional management; Analytic modeling to deliver business impact. * Presentation skills for interfacing with senior management, with large external clients, and at relevant industry conferences. * Proven ability to hire, develop, and mentor teams with diverse personalities, skills, and ideas. * Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills with the ability to convey complex ideas to diverse audiences.
