Responsibilities
**General Purpose:** Responsible for leading internal and external business partners to determine systems design within project scope and strategic direction of Herman Miller. Responsible for creating and maintaining a standardized library of User Experience (UX) Patterns to be deployed across all of our digital platforms. Develops a unique and seamless user experience for customers and dealers. **Essential Functions:** - Creates process flows, wireframes, and visual design mockups as needed to effectively conceptualize and communicate detailed interaction behaviors. - Develops and maintains detailed library of UX Patterns, working closely with developers to see design through to implementation. - Leads and collaborates with a cross-functional team of visual designers, developers, product owners, and marketing to translate business requirements and user needs into meaningful interactive experiences. Identifies and solves common design problems with minimal guidance and shares these solutions for company-wide impact. Creates and maintains user interface style guides. Communicates design decisions to several functions of the business with detailed mock ups and prototypes. Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.
Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor's degree in Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Information Design, a related field, or equivalent practical experience. - Eight plus years of experience as a User Experience Designer, Interaction Designer, Information Architect, or similar role. - Proven work demonstrating effective user-centered design solutions. - Extensive experience with interactive prototyping tools. - Successful experience creating and maintaining UX Pattern libraries. - Deep understanding of the contemporary digital ecosystem. - Demonstrated experience translating business and creative strategies into effective digital communications. - Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate technical and non-technical thoughts and creative concepts. - Demonstrated ability to effectively use office automation, communication, software, and tools currently used in the Herman Miller office environment. - Must be able to perform all essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
