Responsibilities
General Purpose: Creates sales tools that tell evocative stories about a new way to think of the workplace for both clients and design firms. Provides visualization support to demonstrate differentiated solutions of Herman Miller thought leadership and product solutions in support of the selling process. Actively integrates a variety of visual media into a cohesive experience for each unique situation. Essential Functions: * Conceives and conveys with visualization tool - inspiring, workplace scenarios to engage clients in the selling process. * Participates in the sales strategies of complex projects to determine appropriate visualization tools within the given timeline. * Provides client solutions by creative problem-solving and active listening that drives the most relevant solution for each unique situation. * Manages and coordinates the creation of 2D/3D renderings, animations, and film of assigned projects. * Integrates special effects sound design/selection, music composition, and narration as required. * Coordinates the interface of 3D architecture to depict the overall product concepts and solutions. * Uses advanced levels of visualization concepts and tools to create 3D architectural scenarios. * Works with customers and/or appropriate architects/designers to obtain technical information and data. * Acts as the resident expert on local issues, needs, and capabilities by developing a knowledge base that can be leveraged in assisting the Sales Team. * Develops and/or oversees the preparation of highly detailed client presentations. * Continuously advances insight and knowledge of workplace planning strategies and product solutions. * Maintains technical proficiency and expert viewpoint on the techniques and tools that will help Herman Miller make the most impact with clients. * Networks with professional groups and technical experts to both promote Herman Miller's approaches and learn/teach others. * Participates with Product Management Teams to visualize new product concepts and applications. * Provides professional mentoring to less experienced team members. * May lead cross-functional assignments. * Manages activities within assigned expense budget. * Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives.
Ideal Candidate
Minimum Requirements: * Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Interior/Architectural/Facility Design, Organization Development from an accredited program, or related field of study. Equivalent level of experience will be considered typically acquired through 10 years of working in a directly related area. Master's degree preferred. * Six years of direct experience in 3D visualization design principles and planning. * Expert experience with 3D visualization, rendering, animation, multimedia design, photographic/illustrative, and computer-aided design processes and affiliated software/tools (i.e., 3D Studio MAX, Adobe Photoshop/ Premiere/Encore/Flash, AutoCAD, Revit, PTC Pro-Engineer, InDesign, etc.) * Comprehensive understanding of Herman Miller products, services, applications, and culture, as well as the ability to distinguish Herman Miller products/services from the competition. * Demonstrated ability to lead, influence, solve problems, and work with all levels in the organization, including Executive Leadership. * Must be an assertive, self-starter with the self-confidence and ability to represent Herman Miller in a professional manner in order to gain a high level of confidence from a diverse group of customers. * Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and successfully coordinate efforts of internal/external resources. * Must be able to work in a fast-paced/changing environment while demonstrating excellent time management skills, ability to work well under pressure, and having the flexibility to shift priorities quickly. * Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong emphasis on listening; including proficiency in creating and delivering impactful presentations to a variety of audiences. Technical writing skills helpful. * Exhibits high personal performance standards, the desire and ability to continuously learn, and must be results-oriented. * Demonstrated high level of integrity and business ethics. * Must be financially literate, possess business acumen. * Proven organizational, planning, and project management skills with demonstrated follow-though and results; ability to ensure timely and phenomenal quality deliverables. * Demonstrated ability to effectively use office automation, communication, software, and tools currently being used in the Herman Miller office environment. * Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% of the time. * Must be able to perform all essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
