Summary
The Center Support Manager coordinates activities of Information Technology Staff including supporting, troubleshooting, maintaining, installing, configuring and repairing computer systems at one of GM Financials Regional Operations Centers by performing the following duties.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate installations, configurations, upgrades and repairs of all computer-related equipment such as personal computers, laptops, monitors and printers. * Interpret specific project specifications for workers and assigns duties and schedules. * Encourage new ideas and create an environment that motivates the employees. * Recommend measures to improve customer support and computer equipment performance. * Analyze and resolve customer support problems, or assist workers in solving those problems. * Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals. * Confer with Operations Center managers and supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments. * Perform activities of workers supervised whenever necessary. * Manage two to ten employees in an Operations Center's ITS Department. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. * Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. * Order and maintain appropriate inventory levels of telephony, printers, desktops, and supplies. Dispose of old equipment. * Work with outside vendors and contractors in coordination with internal departments to ensure projects & service expectations are met. **Other Important Duties** * Assist and coordinate the installation and support of the following external IT departments needs - Server Support, LAN/WAN, Telecom, Desktop Engineering, etc * Support and maintain all Operation Center Wire Rooms & Raised Floor Data Rooms. * Maintain and control access to assigned building security card readers. * Provide coordination and support for ITS/Business Facilities including but not limited to Furniture, Electrical, Cabling, Building Maintenance, UPS & Data Center Maintenance. **Reporting Relationship** * Reports to: AVP ITS End User Support * Direct Reports: Support Technicians
Ideal Candidate
**Knowledge** * Advanced level knowledge on the Windows Desktop operating systems * Imaging & desktop deployment technologies * Working knowledge of networking concepts including TCP/IP, Subnets, Routing, DHCP, and DNS. * Possess advanced knowledge of PC hardware and software and must be able to correct PC related problems in a timely manner. * Experience with ticketing systems. * ITIL frameworks **Skills** * Analytical skills with an ability to evaluate problems and issues and make recommendations for courses of action. * Ability to make independent decisions and use sound judgment in relation to the management of team members. **Experience** * Associates degree (A.S.) or equivalent preferred. * Four to six years related experience and/or training preferred. * Previous supervisory experience preferred.

Working Conditions

Normal office environment. Flexible availability is important, including the ability to work extended hours as necessary. On-Call work is mandatory to support the Regional Operations Center Infrastructure.
