Summary
This position is responsible for the preparation of financial statements including balance sheet statements, disclosures and other supporting and supplemental schedules and exhibits for filings. Responsibilities also include analyzing trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses. Reports organization's finances to management and offers suggestions about resource utilization, tax strategies, and assumptions underlying budget forecasts.
Responsibilities
* Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual closing statements and reports, including written premium, losses and income. * Running periodic financial reports, including monthly and quarterly analytics as assigned, including research of variances. * Preparation of financial statements and reconciliations. * Responsible for monthly closing process and reporting. * Respond to audit requests, including IRS, state & local, and insurance departments. * Responsible for coordinating and leading efforts to complete special projects as requested. * Directly accountable for the preparation and completion of all supplemental reporting/filings for responsible Fortegra companies. * Responsible for cash, account and client reconciliations. * Maintain/prepare procedure manuals as needed. * Assist with conversions of new business, to include setting up reporting and system profiles to capture monthly activity. *
Ideal Candidate
* 3 - 5 years of Accounting experience * Insurance industry experience highly preferred * Knowledge of Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP) highly preferred * Bachelor's degree in Accounting * Highly proficient Excel User * CPA or CPA eligible preferred * Oracle General Ledger experience preferred * Wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected to accomplish tasks. * Excellent communication skills, both oral and written. * High degree of tact and good judgment, especially with auditors and outside agencies. * Advanced mathematical, software, and problem solving skills
