Summary
The Experience Design (XD) team at FiveStars is seeking a senior-level designer to join our team and help lead design innovation and process for our exciting, evolving consumer and business-facing product ecosystem!
Responsibilities
* Be a relentless advocate for user-centered design across our product ecosystem * Collaborate with the Director of Design to bring strategic design thinking into all of our decision making and to share and disseminate design knowledge and experience throughout the company * Act as design lead for a project or several projects; manage relevant tracks of work for and mentor junior designers on project teams * Partner with product management and development leads to set product direction, validate design decisions and concepts, and deliver value to internal stakeholders and external users * Communicate proposed design solutions effectively, as sketches, wireframes, and/or prototypes * Visualize and communicate interdependencies of design decisions across products in our platform * Always ask why, and lead your cross-functional team to take their design thinking and decision making up a level of abstraction * Collaborate effectively with developers and other designers to identify and validate hypotheses, then solve design problems elegantly, agilely and effectively across touchpoints and functional areas * Participate fully in XD design critiques and be prepared to lead cross functional design critiques (soliciting, giving, and receiving actionable feedback) * Lead planning, methodology, and synthesis of user research, including methods such as: contextual interviews, task analysis, mental models, personas, journey maps competitive analysis, paper and interactive prototyping * Be prepared to share design, research, and other knowledge insights to the rest of the company, to customers, or the design community at large * Lead and facilitate analytical testing, data collection, synthesis, and analysis, seamlessly integrate data from cross functional teams into design process * Sketch, try, make mistakes, cry, learn, laugh, do it again
Ideal Candidate
* Degree or certificate in Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive or Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Science, Information Architecture or related field * 5+ years relevant work experience in User Experience/Experience Design * Portfolio of design work that demonstrates design thinking and team collaboration, including demonstrated expertise with cross-platform, cross-device, and cross-persona design problems * Demonstrated design leadership and communication abilities with cross functional and multifunctional teams * Ability to develop creative approaches to solving complex user experience problems and to convey ideas in a tangible and effective format * Knowledge of a variety of user research methods; demonstrated understanding of the capabilities and limitations of various research methods * Demonstrated ability to analyze and prioritize end users' workflows, needs and desires, and to effectively transform this analysis into design solutions * Experience leading a product through multiple iterations of design/ship/evaluate * Expert-level verbal, visual, and written communication skills * Humility, courage, and kindness * Demonstrated design leadership and communication abilities with cross functional and multi-functional teams * Ability to develop creative approaches to solving complex user experience problems and to convey ideas in a tangible and effective format * Knowledge of a variety of user research methods; demonstrated understanding of the capabilities and limitations of various research methods * Demonstrated ability to analyze and prioritize end users' workflows, needs and desires, and to effectively transform this analysis into design solutions * Experience leading a product through multiple iterations of design/ship/evaluate * Expert-level verbal, visual, and written communication skills * Embodiment of company values: authentic relationships, shared humility, warrior spirit, joy every day
