Online Managing Editor

Breaktime Media focuses on the 180-second pauses we take throughout our day. We do this by harnessing a 360-degree technology platform to deliver rich and engaging content to an audience of 25 million shoppers across mobile, tablet and desktop.

This person will work closely with the editorial team to plan, create, and promote content that resonates with Dailybreak.com’s audience. The ideal candidate is an experienced writer, editor, and social media junkie with a passion for creating sharable content.

• Supervise editorial staff of in-house and freelance writers/editors; Recruit, train, and manage freelancers.
• Ensure site voice is consistent on website and social media.
• Maintain editorial calendar; Stay on top of cultural events/holidays, trending topics, and what people on the Internet are talking about; Assign out content.
• Make sure site has perfect mix of both content types (quiz, trivia, list, poll) and content verticals (life, entertainment, news, laugh) 24/7.
• Continuously monitor site analytics and use numbers to guide content development.
• Oversee the branded content team to ensure they are working closely with sales to create campaigns and pitches that work for both users and brands.
• Develop guidelines for content creation, process, and expectations.
• Work with Community Manager to help with email and social outreach.
• Write content for site when time allows.

Requirements:

• 3+ years creating content and managing an editorial team for an online publisher.
• Ability to make decisions based on editorial instinct, experience, and data.
• Always in the know about what is trending, whether the topic be on world news or celebrity gossip.
• Proven ability to create/edit viral content.
• Experience working with CMS; basic knowledge of HTML and Photoshop.
