Senior SQL Database Administrator

Ready Logistics is looking for a Senior SQL Database Administrator to be part of a rapidly growing team of engineers in developing our next generation of applications, platforms and services within a hybrid deployment model. The work environment is highly agile and moving towards practicing continuous delivery with some of the latest tools and technologies within a service oriented architecture. The ideal candidate has a passion of continuous improvement and who is motivated by the opportunity in establishing new practices for a growing organization.
- Configure, upgrade, and manage multiple SQL Server databases and monitor for performance issues in a high availability environment
- Configuring and maintaining SQL Server Backups and Mirroring in a clustered environment
- Maintain recovery plans and perform periodic tests to insure compliance with published company SLAs
- Tuning and optimizing SQL performance including analysis of triggers, blocking and deadlocking issues, replication, stored procedures, functions, views, etc.
- Own the responsibility for tracking and resolving database related incidents and requests, fulfilling requests and resolving incidents within SLAs including after hours support for critical issues
- Index management including design, refresh, and removal of unneeded indexes and index performance monitoring
- Assist in implementing enterprise strategies to proactively maintain system health and availability
- Document the database environment
- Attend meetings and training as required
Qualifications
- S/MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent industry experience
- 3+ years' experience as a Database and Systems Administrator, MS SQL Server 2012 and up, in a dynamic multi-server environment
- Experience in Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools
- Tuning T-SQL queries to improve performance
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability and desire to work with complex, integrated solutions
- Ability to work independently and with limited oversight
- Communicate clearly with the development team and project staff
- Stay abreast of current trends and movements in technology
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools such asWord, Excel, Visio, and Outlook
Desired Skills and Experience:
- SQL Azure setup and management or other cloud infrastructure
- Knowledge of failover clustering
- LINQ or Entity Framework experience
- SQL certifications desired but not required
- Experience with Solar Winds Database Performance Analyzer
- Experience with the Agile methodology and understanding the various aspects such as Sprints, Stories, Tasks, Impediments, etc.
- Working knowledge of Data Warehouse strategies, architecture, and integration
- Experience with noSQL (PostgreSQL) is a plus
