Summary
The Director of Acquisition Services will have the overall responsibility for developing, leading and delivering the vehicle acquisition strategy for Cox Automotive. This position is responsible for developing and implementing strategies and processes in the areas of inventory planning, vehicle sourcing, vehicle valuation, damage assessment, asset acquisition, transportation solutions, and disposal/arbitration. This position is also responsible for growing existing and new business opportunities with our customers. In close collaboration with Cox Automotive business partners and senior leadership, the Director will ensure that all Vehicle Acquisition programs and activities are aligned with current as well as long-term business goals and priorities.
Responsibilities
* Cultivate trust, strong lines of communication, and partnership across the organization and with external clients * Create a comprehensive strategy of acquisition that meets the current and future needs of the business * Developing and executing a strategy to grow the market share of vehicle acquisition transactions with our existing customers. * Identify strategic opportunities to conquering new vehicle acquisition business, and implementing a strategy to add new customers to Vehicle Solution’s portfolio. * Lead the procurement of inventory that consistently meets clients overall needs in a time sensitive/ fast-paced environment * Recruit, hire and develop a national acquisition services team * Manage in a start-up environment which requires flexibility and adaptability on an ongoing basis * Budgetary and P&L responsibility, including planning, contract negotiation, monitoring and accountability. * Audit vehicle purchases to assure compliance with client needs and company guidelines * Continuously analyze vehicle trends and metrics to develop solutions, programs and policies * Work with new/potential clientele on development and implementation of their strategy(s)
Ideal Candidate
* Bachelor’s Degree in Business is highly preferred and/or MBA degree preferred * 10 plus years of automotive experience, with at least 5 years of management experience. * Strong and influential communicator and possess the ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels. * Ability to articulate a vision, develop plans and initiatives, and executes effectively. * Superior analytical and problem solving skills evidencing the ability to think and act strategically. * Strong leader who is effectively able to lead a team and motivate to deliver on goals. Highly collaborative, with ability to work in partnership with the entire Cox Automotive communities. * Excellent communicator both verbally and in writing. Startup experience a plus. * Excellent relationship management , Negotiating and Sales management skills * Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time. Ability to perform repetitive tasks. Manual dexterity. Vision abilities required include close, distance, color and depth perception.
