Summary

The Accounting Specialist is responsible for supporting accounting operations in one or more of the following areas: accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general accounting.

Responsibilities
  • This position will assume one or more of the responsibilities listed below
  • Serve as the first point of contact for the Accounts Payable department by reviewing all incoming correspondence which includes invoices, vendor questions, and internal questions.
  • Resolve vendor inquiries regarding payment status and invoice processing status by using the accounting system.
  • Prepare invoices for entry into the accounting system and assist in tracking invoices status from date of receipt through payment.
  • Prepare vendor statement reconciliations.
  • Apply incoming cash receipts to customer account balances.
  • Responsible for entering journal entries into accounting software.
  • Interacts with customers, vendors, publishers and user departments in answering questions, resolving differences and encouraging timeliness and accuracy.
  • Maintain fillings system for journal entries, vendor data, and other accounting documents.
  • Run various reports for internal and external clients including trial balances, accounts receivable aging reports, etc.
  • Complete special projects and other tasks as required.
Ideal Candidate
  • Some knowledge and understanding of GAAP principles.
  • Accounts payable experience preferred.
  • Comfortable with high-volume workload.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Well-developed time and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and work well independently and with others.
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including occasional overtime.

Education and Experience:

  • 2+ years accounting experience.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
