Summary
Provide leadership and management of quality control activities that take place during production on the off shifts. Schedules and assigns workloads to the quality technicians on that shift. Provide input to sanitation activities that occur on shift. Maintain close rapport with production to identify, solve and prevent problems affecting quality. Provide product quality surveillance of manufacturing areas through HACCP monitoring and periodic facility inspections, etc. Coordinate with production in the monitoring of packaging lines for effective control of weights, metal detection, codes and product/package integrity.
Responsibilities
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities** - Safety, demonstrated behaviors in support of company safety procedures with focus on zero injuries. This includes driving results though behavioral observations, participation in SRC and daily trainings. - Quality, demonstrates behaviors in support of quality work processes to include, Document & learn what First Pass Quality is and be sensitive to quality issues. Notify and follow through on any quality concerns. - Conduct GMP and food safety inspections. - Provide assistance/coordination in execution of the pathogen monitoring program. - Prepare foreign material inspection and hold reports driving to root cause. - Provide aid for sanitation activities; pre-op inspections, swabbing, and overall execution. - Compile, report and communicate daily shift events to include Safety, Quality and/or Operation events to all stakeholders. - Maintain product quality forms and documents. - Support lab staffing needs as support and back-up, troubleshooting and maintaining lab equipment. - General shift support for new products and R&D trials. **Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities** - Inventory lab supplies and provide Team Lead with requests. - Participate in operational meetings as needed. - Assist with kosher audits as needed. - Assist with maintenance of SQF Certification - Manage finished good rework documentation for relevant shift. - Provide assistance to Team Lead to ensure Quality procedures are updated and maintained per annual reviews. - Train the Quality Technicians as needed. - Work overtime as required to achieve production and maintenance schedules - Perform appropriate line control to assure compliance to standards. - Provide leadership to the Quality Technicians. - In the absence of the Quality Technician, it is the responsibility of the Quality Coordinator to cover those responsibilities
Ideal Candidate
**Qualifications** **Minimum:** - Experience working in a production, manufacturing or distribution environment for 6+ months - Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and web based programs - Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with individuals at all levels of the organization. **Preferred:** - B.S. degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, Business or related field - One or more years of experience within Quality in a food, beverage or dairy production environment - One or more years of experience in the Quality field to include performing quality assurance tests; in a production environment, inspecting products, applying math, computer entry and using laboratory equipment with statistical process control; working in a team environment - Proficiency in SAP - Statistical process control - Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. - Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently with good time management skills and flexibility. **Essential Physical and Mental Requirements** - Sit, stand, walk and climb stairs during time on duty - May be subject to blood borne pathogens and other infectious illnesses, occupational hazardous materials and associated protective activities and donning personal protective equipment - Basic computer skills and ability to operate monitoring equipment required - Physically able to respond timely to emergency situations at facility
