Summary
Develops and implements corporate Safety, Environmental and Hazmat programs. Responds to various EHS issues and regulations impacting company operations and personnel. Defines and implements policies and procedures placing emphasis on employee safety, operational environmental impacts and HazMat product shipments in order to limit business interruptions, contain liability and costs, protect Tennant’s brand and ensure the safety of our employees, customers and communities.
Responsibilities
- Develops and assists in global implementation of EHS programs with local designated EHS personnel and operational management. - Develops and conducts audits, gap analysis and risk assessments of global EHS programs to ensure operational regulatory compliance and in meeting corporate objectives and strategies. - Develops corporate guidelines for EHS reporting, permits, and related documents. Assists designated EHS personnel with government inspections as needed. Collaborates with designated EHS personnel with regulatory comments, exception requests and approval processes with regulatory agencies. - Works closely with corporate EHS team to define appropriate EHS goals and objectives to meet company strategies and initiatives. - Collaborates with local EHS representatives in developing required and necessary training programs to ensure compliance and skill development of employees, vendors, and management. Assists in defining methods to assess training effectiveness. Ensures appropriate tracking and record keeping processes are met. - Confirms compliance with hazardous material transportation requirements by conducting audits of internal business units and external vendors. Reviews and updates corporate hazmat shipping tables as needed
Ideal Candidate
**Minimum Qualifications** * Bachelor’s degree in safety, chemistry, biology, or related technical fields PLUS 5+ years of experience dealing with safety, environmental and Hazmat issues preferably within an industrial or regulatory setting. * 10+ years of experience in a manufacturing or similar environment with experience in managing or handling safety/environmental issues. **Skills Required** - Working knowledge of safety, environmental and hazardous materials regulations/procedures - Strong interpersonal skills - Strong written and oral communication skills - Strong organization skills - Risk assessment and problem-solving skills - Strong computer skills - Some overnight travel may be required
