Summary
Reporting to the Associate Director, Research, the Assistant Director, Prospect and Donor Relations will support the prospect research efforts of the External Relations and Development office, providing occasional assistance to stewardship projects as needed. The incumbent will participate in the creation of various types of research documents relating to past, current, and prospective donors (primarily relying on online resources), uncovering new prospects; identifying and evaluating new research tools; assessing the impact of and optimizing research materials for end users; and documenting procedures and processes. The Assistant Director will train and supervise student workers supporting the team, and identify and recommend approaches to drive beneficial collaborations across the department and the School. In fulfilling these responsibilities, the Assistant Director will require knowledge of the School's programs, initiatives, and funding priorities, as well as the development of relationships with other offices of the School. The successful candidate must have outstanding research and writing ability, exceptional attention to detail, strong interpersonal skills, and must meet Core and Partnership Values of teamwork, integrity, accountability, and respect. This individual must be a strong and motivated team member invested in raising the bar for External Relations and Development at Columbia Business School.
Responsibilities
* Create a variety of research documents in support of the fundraising process, including event briefings and in-depth prospect profiles; * Conduct research to identify new fundraising prospects, including use of electronic wealth screenings, among other resources; * Conduct research to ensure integrity of information contained in proprietary database, track research requests and output, and create research-related reporting as needed; * Evaluate existing and potential research tools, making recommendations for their utility; * Provide support to the stewardship team as needed for acknowledgment and report production and activity planning, coordination, and implementation; * Assist with External Relations events as needed.
Ideal Candidate
**Minimum Qualifications for Grade:** Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant * Bachelor's degree and/or its equivalent required, with at least two years of relevant experience required, preferably in an academic or nonprofit setting. **Additional Position-Specific Minimum Qualifications:** Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant * The successful candidate must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills, creativity, and the ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced team environment. * Candidates chosen for interviews will be asked to submit writing samples and references. * Knowledge of all basic Microsoft Office applications required.
